Asphalt 8: Airborne
Summary
The 2018 McLaren X2 was added in the 2018 Summer Update as a high-end Class S car with the following statistics:
- Starting rank: 1480
- Hidden MAX rank: 1692
- PRO rank: 1816
- Tuning Kit bonus: +42
- Stock-to-PRO rank difference: 336
- Upgrade rank percentages: 2/55/2/41
- Speed Modifier: 87.22%
- Nitro Efficiency: 7/13/16
The X2 only has PRO upgrades and no MAX upgrades.
Performance
Acting as an improved version of the McLaren MP4-31, the 2018 McLaren X2 can reach a maximum real speed of 317.2 mph (510.5 km/h) at PRO with Tuning Kit activated. This is 0.2 mph (0.3 km/h) slower than the Apollo Intensa Emozione, the current S Class and overall king, when the latter is at MAX+PRO. However, the X2 reaches its maximum speed faster, in ~2.3 seconds (with Triple Nitro activated), which gives it an edge on shorter tracks like Dubai . The X2 ranks as the 7th fastest vehicle in the game, behind the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition[1], Kawasaki Ninja H2R (when Supercharged)[2], Devel Sixteen Prototype[3], Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport[4], BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage[5], and Apollo Intensa Emozione.
However, the X2's mediocre nitro efficiency leaves it vulnerable to more nitro-efficient cars on medium and long tracks. But even with this disadvantage, the X2 is still a close competitor for the Apollo IE, especially on shorter tracks due to its superior acceleration and nearly identical maximum speed. The X2 also has excellent handling, but this comes at a cost as it has a wide drifting radius and a tendency to go into sudden skids, much like the MP4-31.
Usage
Being one of the best S Class cars, the McLaren X2 can perform extremely well in TLEs, being able to achieve a top 25 easily with some skill. It is also the best McLaren car to date, topping the previous best McLaren MP4-31, and will hence dominate the leaderboard should a McLaren-only event appear. However, due to it requiring 64 Custom Racing Engines to be upgraded, the Apollo Intensa Emozione may remain as the best vehicle usable overall factoring in upgrade difficulty. So, saving up tokens for Championship boxes will be extremely useful.
The X2 can also perform extremely well in Multiplayer at PRO rank. At the start, its superior acceleration gives it an advantage and also prevents other cars from knocking it down, and its nearly identical (if not superior) top speed compared to other cars commonly found in the 1800+ bracket - Aston Martin Vulcan, Apollo Intensa Emozione, McLaren MP4-31, Arrinera Hussarya GT - allows it to hold its lead. If played with regularly in the hands of a skilled driver, it can reach very high placements in the Champion League and even make it as far as the Elite League.
The X2 also has some usage in Multiplayer even when not fully PROed out. Its fairly low starting rank allows it to reach a high speed at ranks 1670 and above. Although it is slower than the Apollo at any rank below 1800, the X2 can pull out wins regularly against nearly all other cars due to its all-around good stats. Due to its superb acceleration, the X2 performs best against the Apollo on shorter tracks when MP-tuned. Here are a few useful non-PRO Multiplayer tunes:
- 10-0-10-0 (Rank 1672): Real speed= 490.7 km/h (304.9 mph), Displayed speed= 562.6 km/h (349.6 mph)
- 10-0-10-2 (Rank 1679): Real speed= 491.7 km/h (305.6 mph), Displayed speed= 563.8 km/h (350.3 mph)
- 10-0-10-5 (Rank 1697): Real speed= 494.2 km/h (307.1 mph), Displayed speed= 566.6 km/h (352.1 mph)
- 10-0-10-10 (Rank 1744): Real speed= 500.6 km/h (311.0 mph), Displayed speed= 573.9 km/h (356.6 mph)
Despite this, if possible one should try to PRO the McLaren X2 as the 1800+ is where its potential shines the brightest. Additionally, owing to it only having PRO upgrades, one is unable to upgrade only top speed without upgrading handling/drifitng, thus wasting rank points.
