An ad (short for advertisement) is a video clip that is shown to players as part of the "freemium" concept of the Asphalt games. Ads can also be part of a larger marketing campaign.
Random ads are shown to non-VIP players at various moments during the game. They are deactivated for players with a VIP status who have paid real money for an in-game purchase. This does not affect ads that can be watched intentionally in order to obtain extra features.
Asphalt 8: Airborne[]
Players can watch all of the following ad types independently from each other.
Daily ads (milestone version)[]
The 2019 Halloween Update introduced a "milestone version" of the daily ads, with additional rewards granted for reaching certain milestones. If the milestone version has ended and has not yet been replaced by a new series, the →conventional version is displayed.
At the beginning, the 
Compact Shuffle Box and 
Compact Split Box had a short comeback as rewards but were replaced by the 
Optimal Shuffle Box and 
Optimal Split Box on December 27, 2019.
On July 11, 2020, all rewards were replaced by new Booster types, Fusion Coins and the newly introduced Pro Kit types.

Multi-Credits[]
Replacing Double Credits, Multi-Credits works in a similar fashion, and can be earned 10 times a day. Instead of factor 2, the rewarded Credits are now multiplied with the smallest integer factor such that the result is greater than or equal to a defined threshold. The threshold depends on the player's earned career 
Stars; for advanced players, it is 10,000.
The amount of rewarded Credits is no longer relevant—the smaller the amount of Credits, the greater the factor.
Championship tires[]
During Championships, players can watch 3 ads per day to get an extra tire.
Discontinued[]
Pro Kit Box extra card[]
Since the 2019 Spring Update, players are given the option to watch an ad after opening a Pro Kit Box to get an extra card twice per day. The extra card will follow the sample space of the box, e. g. an extra card from an Engine Box will grant an engine.
The Sixth Anniversary Update removed the extra card option for boxes that contain only one card. Prior to this update, players had the possibility to increase their number of rare Pro Kits and blueprints by using the ad option only for boxes that grant one specific card.
- Note: Players have to make sure that there is a free additional slot in their inventory to enable the ad option. Otherwise the box will be opened, but no extra card option shown.
Extra card ads were removed in the Fifteenth Anniversary Update with the removal of Pro Kit Boxes.
Double Credits[]
After a race, players are given the option to watch an ad in order to double their earned Credits twice per day. It is recommended to reserve this option for races with a high Credits output, namely Season 9, McLaren Legends Season or long Multiplayer races.
There is an upper limit of around 1,400 ( 6,000 prior to the 2019 Spring Update) up to which the double Credits option is offered. If a player earns more Credits than this limit, the option is not displayed.
Double Credits was replaced with Multi-Credits in the Sixth Anniversary Update.
Elite cars timer[]
Players can watch up to 10 ads per day to reduce the waiting time when tuning up Elite Cars. This was removed in the Sixth Anniversary Update as the Elite status was removed.
Boosters[]
Before starting a race, players can watch an ad to get a free Nitro Starter or Tuning Kit. This can be repeated 5 times per day and booster.
Ad boosters are different from bought/free boosters: While the latter ones last for a certain period of time (Nitro Starter: 10 min., Tuning Kit: 15 min.), ad boosters are active for 1 race and can be accumulated, no matter when a race is started or how long it is. This can be useful and effective for races with 2 or 3 laps as well as in situations when players have to wait for competitors in Multiplayer races.
Ad boosters were removed in the 2020 Spring Update.
Asphalt 9: Legends[]
Players can watch ads to earn more rewards such as packs, reduce refuel time on cars and much more. The number of times an ad can be watched depends on the rewards/race consumables.

Car Fuel Refill[]
Players can watch ads to reduce the amount of time it takes for a car to refill its fuel. Depending on the car, the number of ads required to fully refuel a car will vary. The game allows the player to refill certain cars fuel by different percentages depending on the car and the car's star rank.
Tickets[]
Players can watch ads to gain tickets to continue racing in TLE's or Special Event races if they have partially or completely used all their tickets. A player can watch up to a total of 10 ads to gain tickets per day.
Asphalt Nitro[]
Ads in Asphalt Nitro depend very much on the internet connection. If the connection is unstable for a short moment, an ad option stops being displayed. This can be annoying, especially during an "ad spree" for Double Credits ads (see below). Since the 2019 Winter Update, ad rewards cannot be claimed because of a bug that seems to be present on many devices.
Tokens[]
The "Earn free Tokens!" panel on the main screen (displayed together with other offers) lets the player watch 20 ads per day, each granting

Double Credits[]
Example: 
1,761 ( 1,678 plus 5 % VIP bonus, rounded down) doubled to 3,522 after 1 ad.
After 8 ads: 1,761 result in 450,816.
After a race, players are given an option to watch an ad in order to double their earned Credits. There are two important differences to the former Double Credits option in Asphalt 8:
- There is no upper limit up to which the Double Credits option is offered.
- Players can watch an ad for the same race several consecutive times, enabling them to double already doubled Credits again.
This makes the Double Credits option extremely valuable for races with a high Credits output as it increases the earnings exponentially.
Example: Watching 8 ads after a race with an output of 1,761 gives

= 1,761 · 28
= 450,816.
The number of times the ad can be watched in one run seems to vary from 4 to 8. It has been observed that if the internet connection is unstable for a short moment, the Double Credits option stops being displayed for the current race, although it is available again for the next race.
Fuel[]
Players can watch ads to gain 
Fuel to continue racing in Time-Limited Events if they have partially or completely used all their Fuel.
Boosters[]
Players can watch an 8 ads per day on the boosters pre-race screen to get a free 
Nitro Starter. There is no difference between Nitro Starters from ads and bought ones; they both last 10 minutes. The video ad option is not shown
- if the player has free Nitro Starters.

Other boosters cannot be obtained from ads and must be bought or obtained from Kit Boxes.

Daily ads[]
Players can watch 5 ads per day by tapping on the Watch ads button on the main screen. These ads grant 1,500

Independent from daily ads is a randomly appearing popup message for 1 ad per day granting 5

All of the following ad types can be watched independently from each other.
1-Card Box[]
Players can watch 10 ads per day to obtain 1-Card Boxes by tapping on the blue "Watch an ad" button in the upper right corner of the main screen. Contrary to its name, the box is a "1-drop box" that grants varying amounts of a single card type.
Tokens[]

After a race, players are given the option to watch an ad in order to double their earned Credits 4 times per day.
Box extra cards[]
Players are given the option to watch an ad after opening a Box to get an extra card ? times per day. This is always a single card and not a "multi-card" drop.
Unlike the Asphalt 8 equivalent, the extra card is not guaranteed to have same type as the box content. For example, the extra card for an A-Class Box can also be a D-Class Blueprint, although the Box contains only A-Class Blueprints.
The extra card option is only available for boxes bought or claimed in the shop, not for boxes won at Limited-Time Events or Daily Missions.
Tickets[]
Players can watch ads to gain 
Tickets to continue racing in Limited-Time Events if they have partially or completely used all their tickets.
Oil change[]
When a vehicle's oil is changed, players can reduce the waiting time by watching an ad to get an "Oil-Change Booster". This is not a booster in the common sense; it is only applied to the selected vehicle and reduces the waiting time by 30 minutes or (rarely) 1 hour.
The ad option only appears after the oil change process has been started. As it seems, there is no daily limit; 12 ads have been tested.
Upgrade timer[]
Players can reduce a vehicle's upgrade time by watching an ad to get an " boster". As with the "Oil-Change Booster", this is not a booster in the common sence; it is only applied to the currently upgraded vehicle and reduces the waiting time by 30 minutes.
