The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione is a V8-engined limited-production grand tourer produced by Alfa Romeo between 2007 and 2010. The name refers to the eight-cylinder (cilindro in Italian) engine (8C) and Alfa Romeo's racing pedigree (Competizione, Italian for "competition").
Description
The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was introduced at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show as a concept before being revealed in full production form during the Mondial de l'Automobile 2006. The production version is very similar to the concept; the biggest difference to the exterior being the rear-hinged hood. Other minor changes included the front lights, which used Xenon lamps, a standard wiper system, a mesh side vent, and the rims, which had a design that mimicked the cloverleaf logo.
The 8C Competizione uses a Ferrari/Maserati 4.7L (4,691 cc) naturally aspirated F136 YC V8 engine with peak power of 444 hp (331 kW) at 7,000 rpm and peak torque of 354 ft·lb (480 N·m) at 4,750 rpm. The 90°, cross-plane, wet sump lubricated V8, assembled by Ferrari, redlines at 7,500 rpm and has the rev limiter set at 7,600 rpm, as well as variable timing intake valves and a compression ratio of 11.3:1.
The 8C uses a six-speed transaxle gearbox with a computerized gear selection by means of levers behind the steering wheel and may be used in Manual-Normal, Manual-Sport, Automatic-Normal, Automatic-Sport, and Wet modes. The gearbox can shift in 175 milliseconds when using Sport mode.
The 8C is claimed to do 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds, reach a top speed of at least 181 mph (292 km/h), and complete a quarter mile (402 m) in 12.4 seconds at 116.4 mph (187.3 km/h).

The strengths of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione lie in its high raw top speed and total top speed, decent acceleration, and handling.
