The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce 1750 TBi TCT, also known as Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2016 Veloce, is a top-of-the-range model of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta (940) 5-door hatchback/family car.
Description[]
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce 1750 TBi TCT is a front-wheel-drive 5-door hatchback that is classified as a compact/small family car. It is sold only in Europe.
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce's engine is a turbocharged 1750 TBi 1.7L (1,742 cc) 4-cylinder, producing 237 hp (177 kW) and 251 ft·lb (340 N·m). A petrol engine, the 1750 TBi in the Giulietta Veloce, with a designated internal code of 940B2000, is of a spark-ignition 4-stroke engine type and uses variable valve timing. The car weighs 4023 lb (1825 kg) at the curb, giving the Giulietta a power-to-weight ratio of 130 hp per tonne or 17.0 lb/7.70 lb per hp.
The Giulietta's transmission is a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with manual shifting mode, developed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies. 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) occurs in 5.7 seconds along with a top speed of 152 mph (244 km/h).
Asphalt 8: Airborne[]
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2016 Veloce was added in the Multiplayer League Update and appears as a mid Class D car with the following statistics:
- Starting rank: 1003
- This was changed to 1004 in the Showdown Update.
- MAX rank: 1200 (+197)
- This was changed to 1193 (+189) in the Showdown Update.
- MAX+PRO rank: 1326 (+126)
- This was changed to 1317 (+124) in the Showdown Update.
- Tuning Kit bonus: +48
- This was changed to +35 in the Showdown Update.
- Nitro Efficiency: 7/12/16
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2016 Veloce had a unique Speed Modification of 102.33%. It one of only three Class D cars to have a Speed Modification (the other two being the Porsche 959 and nanoFlowcell QUANTINO). The speed modifier was removed in the Showdown Update.
Performance[]
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2016 Veloce is quite stable and less prone to randomly skidding and wrecking. While it drifts very well around corners, the Giulietta suffers from below average handling, especially when its nitro is active. In a break from other Alfa Romeo cars, the Giulietta nitro boost is considerably better than most other cars (although it pales in comparison to nitro-focused vehicles such as the Ford F-150, Renault DeZir and Porsche 959).
With a Tuning Kit, it becomes clear that the Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2016 Veloce is a downgrade to the Nissan Juke Nismo and shares much of its stats build with the latter, for the following reasons:
- Both cars are fairly unique within Class D (the DS 3 Racing is another similar car).
- Both are large and sturdy, unlikely to randomly skid and wreck.
- Both have a moderately low top speed stat, though this is backed up by superb nitro power and efficiency.
- Once upgraded, both cars have an excellent acceleration stat that rivals the DS Survolt, even without a Nitro Starter applied.
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2016 Veloce is 0.9 mph (1.5 km/h) faster than the Nissan Juke Nismo without a Tuning Kit, but places slightly more emphasis on nitro, compared to the Juke, which has slightly better top speed. The Juke is 1.4 mph (2.3 km/h) faster than the Giulietta when Tuning Kits are taken into consideration. With the Guilietta's marginally worse nitro efficiency rating of 7/12/16 versus the Juke's 7/12/14, the Giulietta's lower top speed is only apparent on longer tracks.
Usage[]
Due to its similarities with, but ultimately being slightly inferior to, the Nissan Juke Nismo, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2016 Veloce's usefulness in Multiplayer is limited. Exacerbating this is that it is a Blueprints car as of the Porsche Update, as opposed to the Juke, which costs
155,000 or
1,100, and that it costs marginally more to upgrade and kit compared to the Juke.
For precisely the same reasons, however, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2016 Veloce retains some very niche uses over the Nissan Juke Nismo, which is itself a niche car, to begin with:
- The Giulietta serves as a clone of the Juke. If the player already has the Giulietta but not the Nissan Juke Nismo, the Giulietta, for all intents and purposes, is a Juke.
- A stock Giulietta performs slightly better than a stock Juke.
- The Giulietta serves as a "second Juke". Similar to the relationship between the Volkswagen Beetle Turbo, Camaro Z/28, and SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI, the player can benefit from having a "second Juke"—as the Juke is able to compete in Multiplayer on an above-average level (in the 800s to 1200s), a player who is only in Challenger league or lower (who can gain rank with a "second-best" car) may be interested in keeping the Nissan Juke Nismo Multiplayer-tuned while upgrading the Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2016 Veloce to MAX+PRO so that they can experience their "same" car at a higher tune.
Although the Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2016 Veloce is not very useful in Career Mode except for one Alfa Romeo-only race, and it is not found in any collections, it offers
75 through its Mastery challenges.
