The Ares S1 is the first in-house supercar built by Italian coachbuilder Ares Design.

Ares Design, co-founded by former Lotus CEO Dany Bahar, has created some wild machines since its inception in 2012 such as the recent Panther ProgettoUno, a modern take on the iconic De Tomaso Pantera. Now Ares design has launched its very first ground-up supercar: the limited-run, V8-powered S1 Project.
The brief was to create a model with supercar performance and hypercar design, but for a sports car price tag. Though pricing details are yet to be announced, Ares says that the first examples will enter production in January of 2021, with only 24 set to be produced in total.
Dany Bahar said: ‘The aim was not to produce the fastest, the lightest or the most technologically advanced supercar; we want to produce a car that our clients want, that is simple and fun to drive and looks simply stunning and with the S1 Project I know we will have achieved just that.’
Exact powertrain details are still under wraps, but we do know that it will send 705bhp to the rear wheels from a naturally-aspirated V8 that will rev out to 8800rpm – a torque figure hasn’t been disclosed. Its 0-62mph acceleration time is quoted at 2.7sec and although not yet tested, should yield an impressive top speed.
An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission is used to transfer power to the ground, with double wishbone suspension and adaptive Magnetic Ride Control utilised for improved dynamics. A bespoke exhaust system helps extract more performance and sound, with carbon fibre body panels keeping weight to a minimum.
All of these technical elements, such as the mid-engined aluminium chassis, atmospheric V8 engine, dual-clutch transmission and those magnetic campers do allude to what could lie underneath the Ares S1’s carbon body panels, such as a certain recently-reformed American sports car that’s recently switched to a mid-engined layout…
The exterior design has been heavily-influenced by computational fluid dynamics studies, featuring a sleek silhouette with large wheels nestled within bulging arches. At the rear you’ll also find top-mounted exhaust tips and a dynamic rear spoiler, both designed to enhance its aerodynamic performance.

Performance[]
At its stock rank, the Ares S1 has a top speed rating of 296, good acceleration rating (75.70), above average handling rating (62.03) with a moderate drift radius, and average nitro efficiency rating (52.29). The S1's high acceleration and decent handling enables it to get up to speed quickly and maintain much of it around corners. The S1 also has a perfect nitro boost, but at stock, the speed increase is negligible. In addition, the S1 has a very low top speed rating for a high rank Class C car.
Upgrades to the Ares S1 give the greatest improvements to its nitro efficiency, followed very closely by its handling, then acceleration, with the least increases to its top speed. Because of the S1's high upgrade ceiling, the effects of its upgrades are more easily felt versus other cars. While its top speed remains very low given its placement as a high-ranked Class C car, the S1's improved acceleration allows it to get up to speed very quickly, especially with shockwave. One of the more noticeable effects of the S1's upgrades is with regards to its increased speed while perfect nitro is active: with all top speed and nitro upgrades, the S1 gains a 10 km/h (6.2 mph) speed increase under perfect nitro and can sustain it for extended periods of time. Handling upgrades also allows the S1 to maintain its speed more easily around corners and while driving on rough surfaces. It acts as a more balanced version of the Acura NSX having a significantly lower top speed in exchange for better acceleration, handling, and nitro efficiency.
With an acceleration rating of 89.55 at MAX, the Ares S1 is the fastest accelerating Class C car, as well as one of the fastest accelerating cars in the game behind the Peugeot 9x8 and the McMurtry Spéirling.
Usage[]
Due to its very high acceleration, good nitro efficiency and handling characteristics, and very low top speed, the Ares S1 performs very well on technical tracks, such as The Caribbean, Auckland, Buenos Aires, Tuscany and Osaka, but struggles on speed-oriented tracks, such as Himalayas, Scotland or Cairo.
