Asphalt 8: Airborne
Summary
The Ariel Atom V8 is a top-tier Class D car added in the Fall Out Boy Update, with the following rank statistics:
- Starting rank: 1050
- Hidden MAX rank: 1242
- The car does not have any MAX upgrades, but 10 Pro Kit levels instead.
- PRO rank: 1372
- Upgrade Rank Percentages: 10/40/10/40
- Tuning Kit bonus: +49
- Nitro Efficiency: 6/8/10
Performance
The Ariel Atom V8, as a lightweight vehicle, sports amazing acceleration. It has a strong nitro boost coupled with an extremely high nitro efficiency. The downside of the Atom is its mediocre top speed as a result of its large emphasis on nitro, resulting in 227.8 mph/366.8 km/h of total speed. It also has a rather stiff, if not average handling stat, compensated by a very sharp drifting radius. However, this results in frequent "over-steering" of the Atom.
Adding on to that, the Atom is a relatively fragile car, with a tendency to wreck easily. While not every collision is a guaranteed Wreck, players should expect more wrecks than usual while driving the Atom.
The Atom is a competitive Class D car if one does not have the Mazda RX-8 or Hyundai i30 N.
Official review
This is the official review of the Ariel Atom V8 on the Asphalt YouTube channel, made by ReV_Tez and published on February 28, 2018:
Time to reach end of Tokyo straight: 8.316s
Perfect nitro duration: 13.002s
Triple nitro duration: 10.131s
French Guiana lap time: 1.12.633
Final verdict: "Although The Ariel Atom V8 is not the new King of D Class, its overall performance is terrific. It is a great alternative to the Mazda RX-8, however it requires 68 V8 engine cards which is excessive. The highlights of this car would be its acceleration and nitro duration!"
Usage (Multiplayer)
With the new multiplayer matchmaking, the Atom is one of the best multiplayer cars with its exceptional acceleration, nitro duration and drifting.
Usage (TLEs)
The Atom is a similarly poor choice for TLE's as the Mazda RX-8 and Donkervoort D8 GTO are still superior choices over the Atom. While both require engine cards that may be difficult to obtain and have only buying prices, neither require the absurdly large number of engine cards or restrictive availability that the Atom has. The Atom is also not burdened by the further restrictive availability that the i30 N has due to the latter being an Elite Car.
Price
The Ariel Atom V8 is unlockable through its own Championship event, which was held on March 3, 2018. Otherwise, it can be purchased with 4,800. The Atom notably, requires a whopping 68 V8 engines in its Pro Kits, beating the previous records of 60 V8 engines for the Arash AF10 and 64 V6 engines for the Renault Sport R.S. 01. The Atom requires an additional 10 of each Class D part, 22 Early & Initial Tech cards, and 1,135,925 for its Pro Kits.
Availability
Following its debut in the Championship, the Atom V8 was made available for purchase for the first time on August 31, 2018, with a 25% discounted price of 3,600.
