Performance
The Ariel Atom V8 is the highest-ranked vehicle in Class D without Elite tuning.
The Ariel Atom V8 had an abysmal raw top speed (165.9 mph/267.1 km/h) that is offset by its huge nitro boost (61.9 mph/99.7 km/h). This means that, although it had a raw top speed lower than the Cadillac XTS (166.2 mph/267.7 km/h), it ranks as the eighth-fastest Class D vehicle (227.8 mph/366.8 km/h). The Atom's excellent nitro efficiency also means that it can sustain its total speed for longer periods, especially on tracks with frequent nitro pickups and ramps. The Showdown Update changed the Atom V8's top speed to 203.5 mph / 327.8 kmh with a nitro boost of 24.3 mph / 39.1 kmh.
The Ariel Atom V8 has relatively stiff steering when its nitro is active. However, it has a tight drifting radius, as well as extreme tire grip comparable to the Mercedes-Benz Biome. This allows it to easily maintain its speed around corners through the use of mini-drifts, although it is also more likely to wreck against the inside of turns if it drifts too much. The extreme tire grip also makes the Atom V8 very stable and unlikely to skid if a hard turn is made while deaccelerating.
Despite not being a McLaren Championship car, the Ariel Atom V8 shares many of the same characteristics seen in those cars, including a high acceleration stat and tendency to wreck whenever it hits a wall.
With all statistics considered, the Ariel Atom V8 is the third-best vehicle in Class D, behind the Mazda RX-8 and Hyundai i30 N, and it competes with the nanoFlowcell QUANTINO, Donkervoort D8 GTO, Porsche 959, Mazda 6, Buick Avista Concept, SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI and Honda S2000.
Official review
This is the official review of the Ariel Atom V8 on the Asphalt YouTube channel, made by ReV_Tez and published on February 28, 2018:
Time to reach end of Tokyo straight: 8.316s
Perfect nitro duration: 13.002s
Triple nitro duration: 10.131s
French Guiana lap time: 1.12.633
Final verdict: "Although The Ariel Atom V8 is not the new King of D Class, its overall performance is terrific. It is a great alternative to the Mazda RX-8, however it requires 68 V8 engine cards which is excessive. The highlights of this car would be its acceleration and nitro duration!"
Usage
Events
The Atom is never seen in the top 100 in general Class D TLEs due to the superior performance of the Mazda RX-8 and Hyundai i30 N. It is, however, better than the Subaru Impreza WRX STI and Donkervoort D8 GTO.
Multiplayer
During the tentative multiplayer matchmaking of the Fifth Anniversary Update, the Atom's exceptional acceleration, nitro efficiency, and drifting made it an effective alternative to the Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition. With the Fast Lane Update, the Atom was made competitive again and rivals the ED Design Torq and McLaren M14A.
Price & Availability
Outside of its Championship, the Ariel Atom V8 costs 4,800 to purchase. As of the 2019 Spring Update, Pro Kits require 980,000, 40 of each Class D Part, 50 Early & Initial Techs each, and 80 V8 engines.
After its Championship, the Atom V8 was made available for purchase on August 31, 2018, with a 25% discounted price of 3,600.
