Asphalt 4: Elite Racing is a racing game published and developed by Gameloft. It was released on iOS and iPod on August 28, 2008, N-Gage on January 20, 2009, mobile phones in mid July 2008 and DSiWare on July 6, 2009. A sequel of the game, called Asphalt 5, was released in 2009 for iOS and Palm Pre. This game marks the first game in the Asphalt series to be released for iOS.

Gameplay

The gameplay of Asphalt 4: Elite Racing is similar to the gameplay of the Need For Speed series. The main gameplay involves the player starting out with one or two of the most basic cars and earning money by winning races and performing illegal acts. Money can then be spent on upgrades or new cars. The game's quality may vary depending on the system it's being played on. The Lamborghini and Audi cars were removed in Asphalt 4: Elite Racing and replaced with Ferrari and Bugatti cars. However, the Lamborghini and Audi cars are returned in Asphalt 5 along with the Ferrari And Bugatti cars.

The iPod and iOS versions also feature different girls that the player can 'phone' to help out in a race (e.g. Sandra helps you gain nitro faster).

For the iPod version, the steering is controlled by either 'steering' left and right with the click wheel or by touching the left and right sides of the wheel. The iPhone version is controlled by tilting the iPhone left and right, while the DSi version has the options of using the touch screen or D-pad. The preferred controlled method can be determined in the options menu

Lost Media

Asphalt 4: Elite Racing for the iPod (Nano, Classic, aka clickwheel devices) is currently considered lost media, as the game is no longer able to be purchased (since 2011) and no game files have ever been publicly released online. Once the files are publicly posted somewhere online (from someone with the game still on their iPod), the game can be cracked and run on modified iPod firmware.
