The Audi R8 LMS Ultra (Type 42) is an upgraded version of the Audi R8 LMS race car.
Description[]
The Audi R8 LMS ultra is an Audi R8 LMS with CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) doors equipped with high-energy absorbing new crash foams, new PS1 safety seats developed by Audi, and an updated 6-speed sequential transmission that provides additional reserves on long-distance drives.
Depending on restrictor regulations, the 5.2L V10's engine power can be at most 562 hp (419 kW), with higher torque at lower engine speeds, a larger engine oil cooler and transmission fluid cooler, relocated steering hydraulics oil cooler to the vehicle's midsection, enlarged air vents, and improved airflow to radiator and interior.
The front wheels are 18-inch O.Z. wheels with Michelin 30-65/18 tires, and front wheel brake cooling has been optimized. Just like the regular R8 LMS, the LMS ultra is rear-wheel-drive.
Asphalt 8: Airborne[]

- MAX rank: 1384
- This was removed in the Gangstar Season Update.
- MAX+PRO rank: 1545
- This was changed to 1412 as of Hot Winter Season Update.
- Tuning Kit bonus: ?
As of the Hot Winter Season Update, the R8 LMS Ultra is now a low Class C car.
Performance[]
The Audi R8 LMS Ultra's primary performance advantage is its blazingly quick acceleration – at its release, it dethroned the Savage Rivale GTR and was the fastest accelerating car in the game until the TRION NEMESIS, McLaren Mercedes MP4-25, and McLaren MP4/8 in the Santa's Gift Update, Championship Update, and Lunar New Year 2017 Update, respectively. It still stands as the second-fastest accelerating car in B Class, though, only behind the MP4/8.
The car otherwise shares the same performance traits with the Audi R8 e-tron: a very high nitro stat that comes at the cost of low nitro efficiency (9/14/19), average top speed for its rank, and decent handling.
Usage[]
The R8 LMS Ultra currently remains as the second best choice for Audi-only events (after the Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition). However, as of the 2021 Summer Update, the R8 e-tron SE was moved to Low Class D, so it has regained its spot as the best choice for Audi-only events.
It also has the added bonus of being in the "Hot Summer" collection. As part of the Sbarro Sparta's Enduro Double Down event, the details of which are seen here, the Audi R8 LMS Ultra is one of the Enduro Cars for that event.
Usage (Multiplayer)[]
While the Audi R8 LMS Ultra's acceleration is an advantage over most cars at the start, it isn't necessarily the best car for Multiplayer due to its poor nitro efficiency and low top speed.
An upgrade configuration of 1405 2555 gives a rank of B1520 and a total speed of 253 mph (408 km/h), which, while higher than most cars with similar upgrade configurations that yield a similar rank, is a poor choice as cars like the Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS, McLaren MP4/8, Aston Martin Vulcan, and even the Sbarro Alcador can yield higher total speeds (and better overall stats) at a similar rank.
The R8 LMS Ultra can be considered as a downgraded version of the McLaren MP4/8, both possessing low top speed, extreme acceleration, and good drifting. Any players who drive this car (along with the MP4/8) should pick short and twisty tracks (eg. Dubai), and always avoid 2-3 Laps. Unlike the MP4/8, the R8 LMS has a poor nitrous efficiency, rated at 9/14/19 instead of the MP4/8's 5/10/15, so it is advised that the drivers should acquire good nitro management skills before driving this car in MP.
With the Heatwave Season on August 30, 2018, that rebalanced matchmaking by top speed instead of performance rating, the R8 LMS Ultra is now usable with its rapid acceleration.
Price[]
The Audi R8 LMS Ultra originally cost 625,000 to purchase. The Munich Update increased the R8 LMS Ultra's cost to 2,400 for player accounts created after November 13, 2017. The R8 LMS Ultra's price was then decreased on March 24, 2018 to 1,950. As of the Fifteenth Anniversary Update the R8 LMS costs 3,750.
As of the Hot Winter Season Update, upgrades require 55 of each Uncommon Drivetrain, Uncommon Exhaust, Uncommon Suspension, Uncommon Tires, 60 Uncommon Tech, 160 Audi R8 LMS Ultra Kit and 6,000,000.
For a few days during August 2015, the price of the R8 LMS was glitched and only costed 625, however, it was fixed shortly after.
