The BMW M1 (formally known as BMW M1 (E26)) is a mid-engine sports car made by BMW that appeared in the Asphalt series, as well as the oldest car produced by BMW to appear in it. It is one of the classic cars in the Asphalt series.
Overview
The BMW M1 (E26) is a sports car produced by BMW from 1978 to 1981. BMW is planning a replacement of the BMW M1 which will be called the BMW M8 and the M8 will enter production in 2016.
The M1 coupe was hand-built between 1978 and 1981 under the Motorsport division of BMW as a homologation special for sports car racing. The body was designed by Giugiaro, taking inspiration from the 1972 BMW Turbo show car. Originally, BMW commissioned Lamborghini to work out the details of the car's chassis, assemble prototypes and manufacture the vehicles, but Lamborghini's financial position meant that BMW reassumed control over the project in April 1978, after seven prototypes were built. Only 453 production M1s were built, making it one of BMW's rarest models.
Of the 453 produced, 20 were race versions created for the BMW M1 Procar Championship. The BMW M1 Procar did not appear in Asphalt 8: Airborne.
It employed a twin-cam M88/1 3.5 L 6-cylinder petrol engine with Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection. The engine had six separate throttle bodies and four valves per cylinder in the street version, giving a top speed of 260 km/h (162 mph). Turbocharged racing versions were capable of producing around 850 hp (634 kW).
Asphalt 8: Airborne
The 6th car featured in the Tenerife Update, it had a cup in July 1st. Its cup, with top records being above 2:30s, makes the longest Time-Limited events to date, and the most frustrating(it was the first cup to feature Traffic), making most people do Multiplayer cups instead of cups due to the former being much shorter in length. The BMW M1 was later made for purchase after July 10th, with a hefty price of 375,000.
The M1 highly resembles the Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary in terms of looks and stats. Being a car in the 70s, like the Countach, it has a slower acceleration than modern cars with a similar rank. The acceleration is further slowed down due to its nitro, the worst in the game, both power and efficiency, with the latter speculated to be the worst in the game, even shorter than the Jaguar F-Type R. However, top speed of the M1 is excellent; while slightly slower than the F-Type, it is still very fast for a car for its class. Handling of the M1 also resembles the Countach; it is not suitable for drifts, but has good steering, although far from the best. But what it shines is the Tuning Kit Bonus and its top speed; with a great +61 Tuning Kit Bonus, with all 3 boosters, it can easily outperform other cars in Multiplayer with its top speed. However, even this is hampered because of the slow acceleration, which makes the M1 very prone to knockdown and giving the lead to faster cars. Overall, buying the M1 is a quite pointless purchase, with no specific events , no Multiplayer benefits, and obviously useless on Time-Limited Events (However it is the best car in some events, which also involve Ferrari 308 GTS, Countach and Testarossa), making this a novelty item. However, the M1 is still not the most useless car in the game, as it does contribute to two collections.
