The BMW M3 Sedan (F80) is a sport version of the BMW 3 Series (F30). It is the successor to the BMW M3 (E90/92/93) in sedan form, while the M3 (E92)'s successor is the BMW M4 Coupe (F82).

Description

The BMW M3 (F80) entered production for the 2014 model year (2015 for the US) as only a sports sedan following BMW's plans to split off the BMW 4 Series coupe/convertible from the BMW 3 Series. Similar to the E92 M3, the F80 M3 features a carbon fiber roof and driveshaft. The BMW M3 (F80)'s platform structure is made from steel, with the bonnet and doors from aluminum.

The F80 M3, along with the M4, uses a newly developed 3.0L (2,979 cc) twin-turbocharged inline-6 engine, the S55B30T0, which is developed from the BMW N55 engine. Differences compared with the N55 include a closed-deck engine block, lightweight crankshaft, strengthened pistons, different valve material, twin fuel pumps, active exhaust, and revised intercoolers. The S55B30T0 produces 425 hp (317 kW) between 5,500 and 7,300 rpm and 406 ft·lb (550 N·m) of torque between 1,850 and 5,500 rpm. The redline is at 7,500 rpm.

The F80 M3's performance is improved from the last generation M3, with 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in 4 seconds (4.2 seconds with the 6-speed manual). Top speed is limited to 155 mph (250 km/h) but can be raised to 174 mph (280 km/h) with the optional M Driver's Package.

In May 2018, the F80 M3 Sedan was discontinued due to new emission regulations. A successor of the F80 M3 is scheduled be launched in 2020.

Summary

The BMW M3 Sedan was added in the Tenerife Update as a high-end Class D car with the following rank statistics:

  • Starting rank: 909
    • This was changed to 1026 in the Showdown Update.
  • MAX rank: 1180 (+271)
    • This was changed to 1201 (+175) in the Showdown Update.
  • MAX+PRO rank: 1343 (+163)
    • This was changed to 1322 (+121) in the Showdown Update.
  • Tuning Kit bonus: +56
    • This was changed to +45 in the Showdown Update.
  • Stock to MAX+PRO rank difference: 434
    • This was changed to 296 in the Showdown Update.
  • Upgrade rank percentages: 5/65/5/25
  • Nitro Efficiency: 10/15/20

Performance

The BMW M3 Sedan, despite having a medium nitro stat that allows for average acceleration, has a forced nitro efficiency of 10/15/20; this is a trait shared with the Mazda 6, a car added later than the M3. The M3 is otherwise well-balanced with regards to handling and top speed.

Usage (TLEs)

The BMW M3 Sedan is not recommended for either Events or Multiplayer, as its poor nitro efficiency means that before it can fully recover its nitro, superior cars like the BMW M2, Range Rover Evoque Coupe HSE Dynamic, and even the Mazda 6 will already have overtaken the M3.

The Mazda RX-8 is a better choice for a tokens-purchasable car, as it is cheaper in overall cost despite costing A8Tokens 150 more to purchase and being an Elite Car. Adding on to that, it has far superior performance to the M3 Sedan and hence much more usefulness.

The only use the M3 has are awarding one free Class C upgrade in Car Mastery and contributing to the Hot Summer and BMW collections. A total of A8Credits 1,800,000 and 17 Tuning Kits are awarded when all 4 versions are completed.

Price

The BMW M3 Sedan had an original buying price A8Tokens 950 that has since been increased to A8Tokens 1,200. As of the 2019 Spring Update, upgrades cost A8Credits 526,000 while Pro Kits require A8Credits 175,200, 25 of each Class D Part, 30 Early & Initial Techs each, and 20 F6 Engines.

Asphalt Nitro

The BMW M3 Sedan appears in Asphalt Nitro as a Class D car. It costs ANCredits 75,000.
