Blueprints are a game element introduced in Asphalt Street Storm Racing and brought over to Asphalt 8: Airborne, Asphalt Xtreme, and Asphalt 9: Legends. It gives the option of obtaining vehicles without directly purchasing them. Blueprints are cards that can be obtained in a variety of ways, though mostly from Boxes. Depending on which vehicle the blueprint is used for, one will have to acquire a certain number of blueprints, after which the player can assemble a vehicle from the blueprints for free, though a waiting period is imposed before the vehicle can be used.

Asphalt Street Storm Racing

Blueprints are only obtainable through Gift Boxes with each box type having its own pool of car blueprints.

Asphalt 8: Airborne

  • A Blueprint buildable car: the Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition
  • A Blueprint buildable bike: the Yamaha FZ-10
  • A Sbarro Sparta ready to be assembled. Note the purple assembly icon on the tier tab
  • Ditto, being assembled
  • The transition into the assembly completion screen
  • One of the unique camera angles in the completion screen of a blueprint vehicle.

Introduced in the Car Blueprints Update and actively used until the Fall Out Boy Update, after which most new vehicles reverted back to the old system of being obtainable only via completing its event, a maximum of 3 blueprints are purchasable at any time from Exclusive Deals or obtained randomly from Pro Boxes.

The blueprint depicts a car in front view with the left half of it (where the right headlight is) in a partial wireframe, similar to the promotional ads for the Research & Development events. Blueprints for motorcycles depict the vehicle from the right side with the left half (rear of vehicle) in the same partial wireframe.

As with any other card, Blueprints are distributed randomly, independent of whether a card is useful or not: for instance a BP card can be obtained, even if the player already has the vehicle.

When selecting a Blueprint vehicle in the garage, the top left corner of the screen gains a purple technological underlay, overriding the blue circuitry underlay used for Elite Cars. When the vehicle has finished assembling, the purple underlay disappears, and gets replaced with the circuitry underlay if the car is elite.

When a sufficient number of Blueprints have been obtained, the vehicle can be built for free but a waiting period will be imposed unless Tokens are paid. The waiting period depends on the vehicle, its class and its BP card rarity (for instance, the Sbarro Sparta takes 16 rare BP cards to be assembled, after which 5 hours must pass until the car is ready to be used, while the McLaren F1 XP-5 needs 20 legendary BP cards and takes 11 hours to be assembled). Waiting periods range from as little as one hour up to 20 hours. During the waiting period, the wireframe pattern runs across the vehicle, even when viewing it in the Garage or accessing the "Coloring" or "View" tabs. The wireframe shows up as either hexagonal patterns or an actual wireframe that runs across the vehicle, including the interior (for some cars). Often, the vehicle gains a brighter color than normal when being assembled. When the vehicle has been completed, the garage will be briefly be covered in the purple technological pattern with new camera angles that differ from when a vehicle is obtained through a purchase or earning the vehicle from an R&D or Enduro Double Down.

Despite the relative difficulty of obtaining blueprints, it is possible to obtain the blueprints for a vehicle that the player wants without the need of purchasable blueprint boxes.

A feasible trick prior to the Motorcycles Update is to have a full pro kit inventory of at least 500 slots, and a lot of Super Racer Kit Boxes, Random Box 4s and Champion League Kit Boxes. Try to finish in the Champion League for at least 9 times, and DO NOT open the Champion League Boxes until you have 9 of them. Since relying on Champion League Boxes will take a very long time, while collecting the CLKBs, obtain as many Random Box 4s from Daily Tasks and TLEs. In the meantime, repeatedly purchase the SRKBs (with the inventory having no space to open the boxes) until the player has at least 52 SRKBs. After collecting a sufficient amount of SRKBs, RB4s and CLKBs, clear as much storage as possible (without selling any Engine Cards and wanted Blueprints), then select either box and press "Open X" for that box (with X for the number of boxes to open; try to have X= 52 for SRKBs, X= 100 for RB4s and X= 9 for CLKBs). Keep repeating the process for the SRKBs and RB4s until all blueprints for the vehicle that the player wants are obtained.

As of the Motorcycles Update, the above trick is now obsolete, since the Blueprints with Rare/Legendary rarity can be obtained from fusion boxes by fusing enough cards. Furthermore, as of the Munich Update, boxes granting the player a random blueprint can also be won from Events and later, Car Mastery.

If the player attempts to sell (now fuse as of the Motorcycles Update) a Blueprint card for a vehicle they don't have, the player will be asked for confirmation.

If enough Blueprints for an R&D or EDD vehicle are obtained from both inside and outside the event, and the player begins the assembly of the vehicle before the completion of the final race of the vehicle event, the event will end, locking out the player from other prizes they have not yet obtained. For Championship and World Tour vehicles, however, the player can continue competing for all prizes and trophies even if the vehicle was assembled prematurely.

As of the Car Blueprints Update, Blueprints have become the only way to unlock new vehicles released after it, with the sole exception being the Suzuki GSX-R750 and Ducati Monster 1200, available for A8Credits 30,000 and A8Credits 100,000, respectively. However, as of the Hot Wheels Update, most of the new vehicles returned to the older formula, being released through special events which award the vehicle only after the entire event is completed. Any vehicle that is not BP-buildable disappears and becomes unavailable once its event ends. Furthermore, prior to the aforementioned update, previous credit/token cars may be changed to BP cars with the release of new updates, without warning (this practice has been stopped as of the Hot Wheels Update).

There are 63 Blueprint vehicles in the game:

Note: The Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RR was supposed to be unlockable with Blueprints. However, as of the Fifth Anniversary Update, this has been changed, meaning the Tuono is no longer a Blueprint vehicle.

The following time-limited cars currently cannot be unlocked through Blueprints (the 2015 GTA Spano, a VIP-unlockable car, is not included here, neither are the Car Mastery reward cars and the Villain Wheels, a TLE-exclusive car). As these vehicles cannot be purchased with credits or tokens either, they are currently impossible to obtain:

Asphalt Xtreme

Introduced in the Asphalt Xtreme Coachella Update, blueprints are now required to obtain and upgrade every car. They are found in boxes, replacing the old car parts. The higher the car class, the rarer the blueprint will be.

The unlocking of a car upon completion of blueprints is immediate; however, upgrading a car with its blueprints takes time, except in Special Projects.

Blueprints cannot be sold or discarded in any manner; however, the Nepal Update introduced a booster called Overclock, which allows blueprints to be used in exchange for a temporary boost to a car's performance.

Asphalt 9: Legends

Blueprints in Asphalt 9 are required to unlock and star up every car. When enough blueprints are collected, the car begins with one star, featuring first five upgrade levels (upgraded with credits) and official colors of each car. To increase the star level of each car, another set of blueprints are required; more stars means more upgrade levels and visual customizations.

Any blueprints of a car that is on the maximum star level are automatically converted to Trade Coins. The player can trade any blueprint they own at any time for Trade Coins, except for cars that have not yet been unlocked - this is a protection against players accidentally trading Blueprints for cars in progress of unlocking.

The unlocking and star upgrading of every car occurs immediately. If a star up is postponed, the car cannot be used until the star upgrade is executed.

Some cars can only be obtained from events. There are two types of exclusive car events in Asphalt 9: Legends:

  • Exclusive events: Runs for four days, one blueprint guaranteed per day by simply finishing (Rezvani and Cien) or winning the race (Force 1 and NEMESIS), depending on the car; additional blueprints (or car class-appropriate import parts) available by completing stipulations. Cars available this way are Rezvani Beast X, Cadillac Cien Concept, VLF Force 1 V10, and TRION NEMESIS.
  • Unleashed events: Runs for ten days, preceded by a seven-day countdown event where tokens can be collected each day (120 if repeatable four times or 150 if repeatable five times) in order to purchase a blueprint card pack for the car, followed with a seven-day contest for owners (available at second day of the Unleashed event). Cars released this way include Acura NSX (2017), Lamborghini Aventador SV Coupe, Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, Lamborghini Egoista, Porsche 918 Spyder, Pagani Huayra BC, and Ferrari J50.
    • Encore events: After a while, blueprint packs for Unleashed cars may go on sale again. The accompanying Encore event allows owners to obtain blueprints again to improve their car or to obtain/upgrade another exclusive car.
