General rules:

All images taken from game screens belong into Category:In-game images and its subcategories.
- Complete, unedited screenshots → Category:Screenshots
- Rectangular cut out images from screenshots → Category:In-game images
- Rectangular cut out images of promo pop-ups (or taken directly form the game's files/popup_lib_wd folder) → Category:Promo images
- Rectangular cut out images of in-game messages → Category:Message images
- Billboard images from the game's files/ingame_ads folder or screenshots of billboards → Category:Billboard images
- Edited images of in-game icons, especially with transparent background → Category:In-game icons
  - Booster images → Category:Booster images
  - Box images → Category:Box images
  - Trial set images → Category:Trial set images (trial sets other than boxes)
  - Currency images → Category:Currency images

Original and official files received directly from Gameloft have the additional Category:Official Gameloft images and are protected.

Other categories:

A category for the game should be added, for example Category:Asphalt 8 images for images taken from Asphalt 8.
Images that are used for vehicle subpages can get a corresponding category:
