The sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro SS (with "SS" standing for "Super Sport"), also known as the Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS in the Asphalt series, is a sporty variation of the successor to the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro pony car.
Description[]
The Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS, more popularly known as 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS, is the 6th-generation Camaro designed by Chevrolet.
The Camaro used the 6.2 L naturally aspirated V8 engine from the Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray, which produces 455 hp (339 kW; 461 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 455 lb·ft (617 N·m) of torque at 4,400 rpm. It is also able to achieve a 0-60 of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of at least 265 km/h.
One main improvement of the 2016 model over the 2015 model is the reduced weight of 3685 pounds, 223 pounds off the 2015 version.
The Camaro also comes with Brembo brakes, 20-inch summer tires and Tremec 6-speed manual transmission.
Asphalt Xtreme[]
Now shortened to Chevrolet Camaro SS, it appears as a Class A Muscle Car. Similar to its classic counterpart, it has been modified for off-road use with a bullbar, roof mounted light bar, louvers over the rear window and off-road tires & wheels.
It requires 30 blueprints to unlock and has a starting rank of Level 21. Oil changes take 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete and cost 250 per change.
Asphalt 8: Airborne[]

Performance & Usage[]
The Camaro sees no use in TLEs due in large to the lack of C Class related events.
In multiplayer, the Camaro does see use. It posses a similar acceleration rate to the Rezvani Beast X, which is around 2.7s to hit its top speed of 408 KMH (about 255 MPH). This is slower than the 2.6s of the Ferrari F50, however both the Beast and Camaro have far better nitro efficiency than the F50. The Camaro's nitro is very good, being superior to the Rezvani. This gives the Camaros an easier time with managing nitro on tracks such as Azure Coast. Paired with fair handling and a good drift radius, the Camaro is a very powerful choice amongst the 1500 ranked vehicles. The Camaro sees no use in TLEs or multiplayer as its high top speed and large tuning kit bonus have been nerfed.
As a departure from the trend of top-end Class A cars with great acceleration and nitro efficiency that was started with the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, Ferrari LaFerrari, and McLaren P1™, the defining characteristics of the Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS include extreme top speed at the expense of slow acceleration and weak handling.
At MAX + PRO, the Camaro SS has dismal acceleration (~6.0 seconds with level-3 Nitro and a Tuning Kit) and mediocre handling. Similarly to its Class C cousin, the Chevrolet Camaro GS, the Camaro SS features a moderately wide drifting radius. The Camaro SS, however, has an extremely high total top speed to compensate for these downsides. The Camaro SS also has a very stunted raw top speed/nitro distribution, with its speed being primarily stored in raw top speed. This is unusual, given the fact that it also possesses a very good nitro efficiency.
While the Camaro SS' small nitro boost is seemingly useless in comparison to its high top speed, its sluggish acceleration limits the Camaro SS' power at the start of races. For this reason, it is generally necessary to use level-3 nitro at the starting line in order to fully accelerate the car. This means that the Camaro SS heavily relies on Extra Tanks, even with its excellent nitro efficiency. Despite the peculiarity, the Camaro SS is popularly used for its excellent performance in Multiplayer, which is only possible with an extremely unbalanced rank vs speed distribution between its raw top speed and nitro, along with its very low starting rank (and, as a result, its large Tuning Kit bonus).
Official review[]
This is the official review of the Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS on the Asphalt YouTube channel, made by TheHawtDawg1 and published on March 22, 2016:
Time to reach end of Tokyo straight: 8.184s
Perfect nitro duration: 10.329s
Triple nitro duration: N/A
Tokyo Reverse lap time: 1.28.539s
Final verdict: "The acceleration is not the best on this car and I don't recommend this car for Multiplayer. The nitro will last long on many tracks and there is no problem with using only one nitro tank. Remember, this car is in Class A and can compete with the top S Class cars. It even beats the TRION NEMESIS on long tracks. This is for sure the king of class A and any competitor will want this car. It can make a 1.12 on Monaco and 1.28 on Tokyo Reverse. If a driver can master how to handle this car correctly, it is dangerous."
Contradictory to the official review, due to its unbalanced speed and rank statistics, the Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS is the second fastest car in the game below a rank of 1500, behind the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition.
The Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS's extreme total top speed sets a very high benchmark for many other Multiplayer Cars. However, with its extremely slow acceleration and only mediocre handling/drifting, the Camaro SS struggles to get around tracks efficiently, becoming very fast on straight sections of road, and very slow on twisty sections of road. This means that it can be beaten if it crashes, gets knocked down, bumps into walls too often, or if there are too many twists in the track. As such, the Camaro SS is closely rivaled by the TVR Sagaris, Holden Coupe 60, Lamborghini Estoque, and Shelby Cobra 427 below ranks 1400, other Camaro SSes, Porsche Carrera GTs, and McLaren MP4/8s at ranks 1400-1500, and by the McLaren MP4/8, McLaren Mercedes MP4-25, and Aston Martin Vulcan between ranks 1500-1600, which all have much better acceleration. In the 1400-1500 and 1500-1600 ranks, the Camaro SS also faces competition from the Apollo Intensa Emozione. It is also often dominated by the much faster Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition due to the SLK SE's much higher top speed at an equal rank.
The Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS' biggest rival at higher ranks is the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage, which is slightly slower (only at low ranks; it has a higher final speed at very high ranks) with less efficient nitro, but has slightly better handling, drifting, and acceleration. Overall, both cars can be seen as equally competitive in Multiplayer, although the Hommage is slightly better, due to being easier to use. Notably, the Camaro SS only starts to fight Hommages regularly past a rank of 1500, due to the Hommage being best at that rank (also due to the car needing to be upgraded to complete its R&D event). However, should the Camaro go any higher, it will be dominated by the Apollo Intensa Emozione and 2018 McLaren X2.
The Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS' best non-mainstream rival is the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition. Below rank 1450, the Camaro SS will almost always lose to an SLK SE, even if the car is 100 ranks lower. However, the Camaro SS can have a fair game against an SLK SE at a rank of at least 1450. While the appearance of the SLK SE was initially very rare due to it requiring 18 Legendary Blueprints to build, appearances of the SLK SE are now slightly more common due to players obtaining most of the BP cards they need to assemble it from two exclusive TLEs, reducing the Camaro's dominance in multiplayer. In addition, the Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition is capable of dominating at ranks below 1500, further reducing the Camaro's multiplayer dominance.
The Camaro SS has a very low top speed weighting of 45%, which means that the rank increase from default to MAX + PRO is only comprised 45% of top speed. The other 55% belongs to nitro, acceleration, and handling. Alongside the Camaro SS' huge speed increase from top speed and its extreme top speed limit, this allows the Camaro SS to reach very high speeds at low ranks. The minimum tuning to keep the Camaro SS competitive is 0400 0000, which places it in direct competition with the Shelby Cobra 427. The maximum tuning to keep the Camaro SS competitive would be 0505 5050, which places it in direct competition with the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage. From here, nitro and acceleration upgrades can be used up to around 50 ranks higher. After that point, the Camaro SS starts to become slightly inferior to a handful of cars.
To obtain the highest possible speed at any given rank, it is recommended that top speed is upgraded to MAX + PRO before any nitro/acceleration/handling upgrades are applied. If upgrading to a low rank, it is recommended that MAX top speed upgrades are done before PRO top speed upgrades up until MAX level 4. This is because MAX upgrades increase the Tuning Kit speed bonus while PRO upgrades don't. However, MAX level 5 decreases the Tuning Kit bonus slightly, so it is better to finish all of the PRO top speed upgrades before doing the last MAX top speed upgrade.
- Cobra dominated bracket: There are a handful of tunes that are designed to allow the Camaro SS to rival the Shelby Cobra 427 in Multiplayer. (Currently, there is only one tune displayed)
- Do not upgrade below 1278. Below this rank, the Camaro SS cannot compete against the Cobra.
- MAX 0400 + PRO 0000 = 1278
- Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 232.5 mph (374.2 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 250.9 mph (403.8 km/h).
- The equivalent Cobra tune is MAX 0503 + PRO 5050 = 1285. Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 242.6 mph (390.5 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 254.4 mph (409.4 km/h).
- Cobra vs Camaro SS - The Cobra has worse nitro efficiency, better acceleration, equally bad drifting, better handling, and a slightly higher total top speed.
- The Camaro SS cannot consistently beat the Cobra at the same rank when using this tune; the Camaro SS is slightly slower than the Cobra at this rank, and it also has an inferior acceleration. On the other hand, 1234 and 1245 Cobras are very commonly matched against the 1278 Camaro SS, and the Camaro SS does have a 50/50 chance of beating these specific Cobras on long two/three-lap races, such as those on Azure Coast or Area 51. The Camaro SS is slightly faster than these low-ranked Cobras, and the Camaro SS' nitro efficiency can become more advantageous in longer races.
- Sagaris dominated bracket: The Sagaris acts as an upgrade to the Shelby Cobra 427 in Multiplayer, with similar upsides and downsides. However, the Sagaris' rank is unfavorable, making the Cobra a better choice for Multiplayer matches against the Camaro SS.
- MAX 0400 + PRO 2020 = 1312
- Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 241.9 mph (389.3 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 260.3 mph (418.9 km/h).
- MAX 0400 + PRO 3030 = 1334
- Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 249.4 mph (401.4 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 269.8 mph (434.0 km/h). This tune is heavily similar to the 0300 5050 build, but lower by 5 rank points and exactly 1 km/h slower.
- MAX 0400 + PRO 4040 = 1359
- Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 258.8 mph (416.5 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 278.1 mph (447.4 km/h).
- MAX 0400 + PRO 5050 = 1390
- Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 270 mph (434.6 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 288.4 mph (464.2 km/h).
- The equivalent Sagaris tune is MAX 0500 + PRO 5050 = 1390. Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 260.4 mph (419.1 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 270.7 mph (435.6 km/h).
- Sagaris vs Camaro SS - The Sagaris has worse nitro efficiency, better acceleration, equally bad drifting, better handling, and a much lower total top speed.
- The Camaro SS can generally win against the Sagaris at rank 1390. However, if the Camaro SS crashes into a wall, either dying or not dying, the Sagaris has a very good chance of winning the race. The Sagaris' superior acceleration allows it to more efficiently recover from crashes, to gain an edge at the starting line (allowing it to steal nitro bottles), and to knock down the Camaro SS at the beginning of the race. An airborne collision with a Sagaris can also be devastating for the Camaro SS, especially when spinning. The Sagaris isn't as close in speed to the Camaro SS at this rank when compared to a 1285 Cobra, however, the Camaro SS becomes harder to drive with more speed added, so the Sagaris' acceleration statistic is more highly emphasized and much more crucial.
- MAX 0400 + PRO 2020 = 1312
- Camaro SS dominated bracket: At these ranks, the Camaro SS is mainly matched against itself. Some McLaren MP4/8s, TVR Sagaris' and other faster-accelerating cars can appear, but all have much lower total top speeds.
- Do not upgrade between 1390 AND 1450. Matchmaking between 1390 and 1450 can allow for the two tunes to avoid each other frequently. However, in-between tunes will only get matched against the far superior 1450 tune, so it is recommended to simply go to 1450 in order to compete against that tune.
- MAX 0500 + PRO 5050 = 1450
- Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 287.9 mph (463.3 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 304.8 mph (490.6 km/h).
- All higher-ranked tunes have only slightly better rates of acceleration and total top speeds. Therefore, this tune is a nice "base" to keep the Camaro SS at.
- This tune allows the Camaro SS to reach the second highest speed in the game by rank 1450, only topped by the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition. This tune is possibly the best tune for the Camaro SS, alongside the following two tunes (which still stay within the 1450-1500 rank range).
- Crashing and bumping into walls, as well as poorly executed turns, can greatly increase lap times. Spinning off upwards facing ramps is not recommended. Also, barrel rolling is highly not recommended, especially not in an upwards direction. Generally, it is better to flat spin than to barrel roll, and usually in a downwards direction. Spinning is not recommended while jumping off ramps while other vehicles are present. Large right-angled corners are recommended to be taken with a V pattern; Handle close to the inner wall, Drift wide towards the outer wall, Handle into the outer wall of the right-angle, in two distinct lines of movement. Hairpin corners are recommended to be taken with a large horseshoe pattern; Handle wide, Drift inwards, Nitro directly forwards, Drift inwards, Repeat, Handle inwards. Extra Tanks are recommended so that level-3 nitro can be used frequently.
- Also, note that it is possible for the Camaro SS to hit the ceiling when doing several jumps, such as in the caves of Patagonia and Iceland, and on the boats of San Diego Harbor. It is also possible for the Camaro SS to "over-jump", such as in Area 51 and Tokyo (ex. Tokyo Reverse). For these reasons, it is recommended to find alternate routes than usual (or to slow down/flat spin), in order to not crash. Also, routes with long straights, especially at the beginnings of races, are very beneficial for the Camaro SS. For example, in San Diego Harbor Reverse, it is better to first go left, rather than right. Some maps, like Dubai, Sector 8, and some forms of Tenerife, are nearly impossible to navigate through very efficiently. These maps should be avoided unless targeting inexperienced Camaro SS'.
- MAX 0500 + PRO 5055 = 1487
- Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 289.6 mph (466 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 306.5 mph (493.3 km/h).
- This tune mainly targets the 1450 Camaro SS tune. Its superior acceleration and total top speed can give it a minuscule edge. However, the Camaro SS, being skill based, will not be very heavily improved by this addition of 37 ranks, if the user can't race near-perfectly.
- This tune uses exhaust upgrades to increase acceleration and nitro at the same time. However, neither benefits from an increased Tuning Kit bonus.
- This tune and onward will make the driver eligible for the Camaro SS' Mastery Challenge 10, which offers 200 as a reward.
- MAX 0501 + PRO 5055 = 1498
- Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 290.1 mph (466.9 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 307.1 mph (494.3 km/h).
- This tune mainly targets the 1450 Camaro SS tune. Its superior acceleration and total top speed can give it a minuscule edge. However, the Camaro SS, being skill based, will not be very heavily improved by this addition of 48 ranks, if the user can't race near-perfectly.
- This tune uses exhaust upgrades to increase acceleration and nitro at the same time. However, neither benefits from an increased Tuning Kit bonus. Its single MAX nitro upgrade benefits from an increased Tuning Kit bonus.
- MAX 2502 + PRO 5051 = 1500
- Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 289.4 mph (465.8 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 307 mph (494 km/h).
- This tune mainly targets the 1450 Camaro SS tune. Its superior acceleration and total top speed can give it a minuscule edge. However, the Camaro SS, being skill based, will not be very heavily improved by this addition of 50 ranks, if the user can't race near-perfectly.
- This tune benefits from an increased Tuning Kit bonus, however, the ratio of acceleration to nitro is more in favor of acceleration. This tune allows the Camaro SS to travel faster than the 1450 and 1487 tunes while giving the Camaro SS a slightly faster acceleration. This acceleration can be crucial to give the Camaro SS an extremely tiny edge against other Camaro SS. An early lead can become a large lead. This tune sometimes encounters BMW 3.0 CSL Hommages; it can consistently beat them in 2-lap races (ex. Sector 8, Venice and Dubai), but driving has to be near-perfect.
- This tune is very slightly slower than the 1498 tune. However, the acceleration is also slightly higher.
- Hommage (+Vulcan, MP4-25, and SIN R1) dominated bracket:
- MAX 0505 + PRO 5050 = 1562
- Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 293.2 mph (471.9 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 311.1 mph (500.7 km/h).
- The equivalent Hommage tune is MAX 0500 + PRO 5055 = 1562. Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 291 mph (468.3 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 310.5 mph (499.4 km/h).
- The equivalent Vulcan tune is MAX 0500 + PRO 5050 = 1562. Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total real top speed of 282.7 mph (455 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total real top speed of 296.6 mph (477.4 km/h).
- The equivalent R1 tune is MAX 0500 + PRO 5050 = 1561. Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 277.9 mph (447.2 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 289.4 mph (465.8 km/h).
- The equivalent MP4-25 tune is PRO 10,0,10,0 = 1590.1. Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 278.1 mph (447.6 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 289.9 mph (466.6 km/h). (Note: This car has exceptional acceleration)
- This tune is more focused on fighting Hommages. However, the performance increase from 1450 to 1562 is not huge, while the rank increase is. Generally, the Camaro SS is slightly inferior to the Hommage at a rank this high.
- Hommage vs Camaro SS - The Hommage has worse nitro efficiency, slightly better acceleration, slightly better drifting, similar handling, and a slightly lower total top speed.
- Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 293.2 mph (471.9 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 311.1 mph (500.7 km/h).
- MAX 0505 + PRO 5555 = 1636
- Without a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 296.6 mph (477.3 km/h). With a Tuning Kit, this tune provides a total top speed of 314.5 mph (506.1 km/h).
- This tune gives the Camaro SS' maximum total top speed without handling or acceleration MAX upgrades. Overall, this tune is not the best, due to how high the final rank is. However, the Camaro SS is still faster than a lot of other cars at this rank.
- MAX 0505 + PRO 5050 = 1562
Price[]
The Camaro SS had an original buying price of 6,250 that has since been reduced to 5,750. An offer between August 14-20, 2017 made the Camaro purchasable for 1,950,000 or 6,250. As of the Neon Season Update, the Camaro costs 3,000.
The Camaro was part of the 24th and 25th Multiplayer Seasons, Bloom Season 2 and Burnout Season 2 respectively, as a Champion and Elite League reward. Players who already had the Camaro would win 100,000 instead.
As of the Gangstar Season Update, upgrades require 55 of each Uncommon Drivetrain, Uncommon Exhaust, Uncommon Suspension, Uncommon Tires, 60 Uncommon Tech, 160 Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS Kit and 6,800,000.
