The sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro SS (with "SS" standing for "Super Sport"), also known as the Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS in the Asphalt series, is a sporty variation of the successor to the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro pony car.
Description
The Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS, more popularly known as 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS, is the 6th-generation Camaro designed by Chevrolet. It is built on a Cadillac ATS platform and much of its components are based on, as one would expect, its 2015 counterpart.
The Camaro used the 6.2 L naturally aspirated V8 engine from the Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray, which produces 455 hp (339 kW; 461 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 455 lb·ft (617 N·m) of torque at 4,400 rpm. It is also able to achieve a 0-60 of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of at least 265 km/h.
One main improvement of the 2016 model over the 2015 model is the reduced weight of 3685 pounds, 223 pounds off the 2015 version.
The Camaro also comes with Brembo brakes, 20-inch summer tires and Tremec 6-speed manual transmission.
The main downfall of the 2016 Camaro, however, is the heavily limited visibility inside the Camaro, as a result of the short side windows, pinched windshield and interference of the gauge-cluster hood in the driver's forward sightlines.

Summary
The Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS was added in the Lunar New Year Update as a high-end Class A car with the following statistics:
- Starting rank: 1136
- MAX rank: 1585 (+449)
- MAX+PRO rank: 1771 (+186)
- This was later changed to 1801 in the Fast Lane Update.
- Tuning Kit bonus: +66
- Stock to MAX+PRO rank difference: 635
- Upgrade rank percentages: 15/45/15/25
- Nitro Efficiency: 7/10/15
The Camaro mainly rivals the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage, Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition, Ferrari 488 Pista, and Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition.
Performance
As a departure from the trend of top-end Class A cars with great acceleration and nitro efficiency that was started with the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, Ferrari LaFerrari, and McLaren P1™, the defining characteristics of the Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS include extreme top speed at the expense of slow acceleration and weak handling.
At MAX + PRO, the Camaro SS has dismal acceleration (~6.0 seconds with level-3 Nitro and a Tuning Kit) and mediocre handling. Similarly to its Class C cousin, the Chevrolet Camaro GS, the Camaro SS features a moderately wide drifting radius. The Camaro SS, however, has an extremely high total top speed to compensate for these downsides. The Camaro SS also has a very stunted raw top speed/nitro distribution, with its speed being primarily stored in raw top speed. This is unusual, given the fact that it also possesses a very good nitro efficiency.
While the Camaro SS' small nitro boost is seemingly useless in comparison to its high top speed, its sluggish acceleration limits the Camaro SS' power at the start of races. For this reason, it is generally necessary to use level-3 nitro at the starting line in order to fully accelerate the car. This means that the Camaro SS heavily relies on Extra Tanks, even with its excellent nitro efficiency. Despite the peculiarity, the Camaro SS is popularly used for its excellent performance in Multiplayer, which is only possible with an extremely unbalanced rank vs speed distribution between its raw top speed and nitro, along with its very low starting rank (and, as a result, its large Tuning Kit bonus).
Official review
This is the official review of the Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS on the Asphalt YouTube channel, made by TheHawtDawg1 and published on March 22, 2016:
Time to reach end of Tokyo straight: 8.184s
Perfect nitro duration: 10.329s
Triple nitro duration: N/A
Tokyo Reverse lap time: 1.28.539s
Final verdict: "The acceleration is not the best on this car and I don't recommend this car for Multiplayer. The nitro will last long on many tracks and there is no problem with using only one nitro tank. Remember, this car is in Class A and can compete with the top S Class cars. It even beats the TRION NEMESIS on long tracks. This is for sure the king of class A and any competitor will want this car. It can make a 1.12 on Monaco and 1.28 on Tokyo Reverse. If a driver can master how to handle this car correctly, it is dangerous."
Usage (Multiplayer)
- Main article: Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS/Tuning
Contradictory to the official review, due to its unbalanced speed and rank statistics, the Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS is the second fastest car in the game below a rank of 1500, behind the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition. Because of this, it was very popular as a Multiplayer Car prior to the Fall Out Boy Update.
The Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS's extreme total top speed sets a very high benchmark for many other Multiplayer Cars. However, with its extremely slow acceleration and only mediocre handling/drifting, the Camaro SS struggles to get around tracks efficiently, becoming very fast on straight sections of road, and very slow on twisty sections of road. This means that it can be beaten if it crashes, gets knocked down, bumps into walls too often, or if there are too many twists in the track. As such, the Camaro SS is closely rivaled by the TVR Sagaris, Holden Coupe 60, Lamborghini Estoque, and Shelby Cobra 427 below ranks 1400, other Camaro SSes, Porsche Carrera GTs, and McLaren MP4/8s at ranks 1400-1500, and by the McLaren MP4/8, McLaren Mercedes MP4-25, and Aston Martin Vulcan between ranks 1500-1600, which all have much better acceleration. In the 1400-1500 and 1500-1600 ranks, the Camaro SS also faces competition from the Apollo Intensa Emozione. It is also often dominated by the much faster Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition due to the SLK SE's much higher top speed at an equal rank.
The Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS' biggest rival at higher ranks is the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage, which is slightly slower (only at low ranks; it has a higher final speed at very high ranks) with less efficient nitro, but has slightly better handling, drifting, and acceleration. Overall, both cars can be seen as equally competitive in Multiplayer, although the Hommage is slightly better, due to being easier to use. Notably, the Camaro SS only starts to fight Hommages regularly past a rank of 1500, due to the Hommage being best at that rank (also due to the car needing to be upgraded to complete its R&D event). However, should the Camaro go any higher, it will be dominated by the Apollo Intensa Emozione and 2018 McLaren X2.
The Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS' best non-mainstream rival is the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition. Below rank 1450, the Camaro SS will almost always lose to an SLK SE, even if the car is 100 ranks lower. However, the Camaro SS can have a fair game against an SLK SE at a rank of at least 1450. While the appearance of the SLK SE was initially very rare due to it requiring 18 Legendary Blueprints to build, appearances of the SLK SE are now slightly more common due to players obtaining most of the BP cards they need to assemble it from two exclusive TLEs, reducing the Camaro's dominance in multiplayer. In addition, the Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition is capable of dominating at ranks below 1500, further reducing the Camaro's multiplayer dominance.
Usage (Other)
While the Camaro SS is a good choice as a Class A TLE vehicle, it cannot finish in an open Class A top 100. As such, a better choice is to use a lower-ranked but (or higher-ranked) faster accelerating and better handling cars, namely the McLaren Mercedes MP4-25 and Rezvani Beast Alpha. Due to its poor acceleration, it is best placed as either the second or third car in Tag Racing cups where it is featured.
The Camaro SS is not suitable for credits grinding as its Season 9 race is on The Secret Lab.
The Camaro SS rewards 200 at Car Mastery Challenge 10 (the required rank is 1474).
The Camaro SS also counts towards the Top Tier collection, though this collection is not easy to complete as it features other rare cars like the W Motors Fenyr SuperSport and Arash AF10. Completing the collection awards a total of 4 Double Credits and 1,200,000.
Price
The Camaro SS had an original buying price of 6,250 that has since been reduced to 5,750. An offer between August 14-20, 2017 made the Camaro purchasable for 1,950,000 or 6,250.
The Camaro was part of the 24th and 25th Multiplayer Seasons, Bloom Season 2 and Burnout Season 2 respectively, as a Champion and Elite League reward. Players who already had the Camaro would win 100,000 instead.
As of the 2019 Spring Update, upgrades cost 3,591,000 while Pro Kits require 1,196,800, 45 of each Class A Part, 22 Early & Initial Techs each, 60 Mid-Techs, 36 Advanced Techs, and 80 V8 Engines.
Asphalt Xtreme
Now shortened to Chevrolet Camaro SS, it appears as a Class A Muscle Car. Similar to its classic counterpart, it has been modified for off-road use with a bullbar, roof mounted light bar, louvers over the rear window and off-road tires & wheels.
The Camaro SS requires 30 of its Blueprints to be built.
