- Nitro Efficiency: 6.5/10.5/14.5
Performance[]
The Chevrolet Camaro SS Independence Edition has rapid acceleration, a good top speed, relatively stiff handling, and a fair drifting radius. Due in large to its unrivaled acceleration, the Camaro SS IE can win races solely just from starting first. In addition, unlike other Festival cars, the Camaro SS IE has relatively decent performance even when partially upgraded. If a player chooses to only upgrade drivetrain and exhaust, it is possible to get the Camaro's unrivaled acceleration at performance ranges such as 1590, 1680, and possibly even 1500. Overall, the Camaro SS IE is the best car of the 1770 performance bracket, and it is recommended to tune it to full PRO.
Possible tunes for the Camaro SS IE:
1320s: 0-0-6-7, rank 1322. This tune reaches its top speed of 350 km/h with tuning kit in 2.524 seconds, making it a poor competitor to the kings at that rank (Ferrari Testarossa, Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary, and Aston Martin DB9 Coupé). Furthermore, due to the lack of handling upgrades, this tune lacks drifting capabilities, but the relatively slow speed somewhat compensates. Overall, this isn't a recommended tune. While a drivetrain upgrade can be exhange for some suspension upgrades to improve handling, but the Camaro SS IE doesn't get good drifting until past 10 handling upgrades, so this tune is not suggested.
1410s: A setup of 5-5-6-5 gives well-rounded performance. This tune accelerates to 376 km/h in around 3.1s, making it a decent competitor to the kings of 1410s. However, with the addition of the McLaren MP4/8 into the bracket, which reaches its top speed of 385 km/h in 2.4s, this tune is useless. Tuning to acceleration will give acceleration of around 2.3-2.4s, but the lack of drifting capability now significantly hampers the car's performance, making it unreliable in this bracket (even more so than 1320s).
1500s: This is the first bracket where the Camaro SS IE has some reliability. With the tune 2-1-10-10, it reaches ~403 km/h at rank 1502, which is decent. The best point about this car is the acceleration - it reaches its top speed in just 2.144s, faster than the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Anniversary Edition. However, this tune still lacks drifting capabilities, but is nonetheless slightly more reliable than the previous tunes. 0-5-10-10 is another possible tune, reaching rank 1496 with slightly better drifting, albeit not by much, and slightly better acceleration. Removing one or two drivetrain upgrades in exchange for suspension upgrades is also possible as the acceleration will not be significantly slower (perhaps going down to 2.3-2.4s).
1590s: The best tune for this bracket is 4-9-10-10, rank 1585, where the car reaches 428 km/h. This is the first bracket where the Camaro SS IE gives consistent results, reaching its top speed in 2 seconds flat (as per testing, 2.012s, which is the same as the Mercedes-Benz Biome), and having good handling and smooth drifting, as well as good enough nitro efficiency. It can compete with the 1590s kings, including the Formula E Gen2, which it can beat on short tracks, as well as other tuned cars such as the Bentley Continental Supersports tuned to the same bracket (4-10-10-10, rank 1586 reaching 429 km/h with much better nitro but much worse handling and mediocre drifting). This bracket is arguably the best one for the Camaro SS IE (other than to its maximum rank).
1680s: The only viable tune for this bracket is 8-8-10-10, where it reaches 456 km/h at rank 1681. This tune accelerates in 2 seconds as well, and has better handling and drifting than the Bentley and Cadillac 16 Concept, the kings at that rank (which also accelerate in 2-2.1s). The Bentley and Cadillac have fairly manageable handling and drifting at this rank as well as much better nitro efficiency (and slightly better top speed), giving them an edge over Camaro SS IE, but Camaro SS IE is still competitive.
