The Chevrolet Corvette C3 Stingray is the third-generation Corvette model.
The Chevrolet Corvette (C3) is a sports car that was produced by Chevrolet for the 1968 through 1982 model years. Engines and chassis components were mostly carried over from the previous generation, but the body and interior were new. It set new sales records with 53,807 produced for the 1979 model year. The C3 is the third generation of the Chevrolet Corvette, while the 1969 through 1976 models mark the second generation of the Corvette Stingray.
The engine of the 1982 model produced 200 hp (149 kW) and was mated to a new four-speed automatic transmission with torque converters bypass in the top three gears. Compared to the previous Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed, the new 700-R4 transmission had a lower first and second gear for improved low-end acceleration and a fourth gear overdrive that would reduce engine RPM by 30 percent at highway cruising speeds, resulting in better fuel economy. On the downside, the new transmission was not considered a strong unit and proved problematic. The final model C3 Corvette's published performance numbers were 0-60 in 7.9 seconds-the quarter-mile in 16.1 @ 85 mph (137 km/h).
The Chevrolet Corvette C3 was added in the Multiplayer League Update as a high-end Class A car with the following statistics:
- Starting rank: 1251
- MAX rank: 1581 (+330)
- MAX+PRO rank: 1759 (+178)
- Tuning Kit bonus: +57
- Stock to MAX+PRO rank difference: 508
- Upgrade rank percentages: 10/60/10/20
- Nitro Efficiency: 6/12/16
The Corvette C3's main rivals in Class A are the Ferrari 330 P4, Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe Touring Car 2014, Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, Sbarro Alcador, McLaren 675LT , Mosler GT3, Bentley EXP10 Speed 6, Jaguar XJ220S, and Aston Martin One-77.
The Chevrolet Corvette C3 specializes in total top speed alone, with mediocre or bad performance in other aspects. The Corvette C3 is faster than the McLaren 675LT, with a total speed of 301.7 mph/485.8 km/h, but it's still not able to compete with even the McLaren Mercedes MP4-25 or SIN R1. The Corvette C3 has very bad drifting, mediocre handling, medium-poor acceleration, and a decent nitro efficiency.
Within the mid-high-end Class A cars, the Corvette C3 is one of the least competitive cars, due to its poor stats overall. It is a Class A version of the Cadillac 16 Concept, carrying almost the exact same overall performance, the exact same total speed, and the exact same top speed and nitro stats at MAX+PRO with Tuning Kit.
The Chevrolet Corvette C3 is overshadowed by the McLaren 675LT regarding usage, in all categories.
The Corvette C3 can achieve decent lap-times in TLEs; possibly shorter than those of the McLaren 675LT. However, due to its expensive price and difficulty of driving, the Corvette C3 is undesirable. The Corvette C3 does have a very good Car Mastery Challenge 15 grinding race, though, located in Westminster Bridge, London. The Corvette C3 is also often featured as the top choice for exclusive TLEs, although it is more often than not avoided in favor of the Aventador LP 700-4.
The following upgrade configurations are possible multiplayer upgrade setups for the Corvette C3:
- 0401 0020 = 250.6 mph/403.6 km/h @ A1416
- 0401 0050 = 260.5 mph/419.5 km/h @ A1459
- 0401 5050 = 274.7 mph/442.3 km/h @ A1521
- 0502 5052 = 288.3 mph/464.2 km/h @ A1598
- 0514 5554 = 298.2 mph/480.3 km/h @ A1669
These tunes are reasonably decent, for a high-mid-end Class A car. However, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe Touring Car 2014 is slightly faster at the same rank (between ranks 1400-1550) and it also has better acceleration/drifting/handling. Overall, the Corvette C3 doesn't have a chance of even defeating the C 63 Coupe at those ranks, let alone a chance of beating any of the MP-popular cars (such as the Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS and Apollo Intensa Emozione). The Corvette C3 can be used at higher ranks, between 1600-1700, where it might be able to achieve 1800-1900 rating points, although it stands no chance against the Rezvani Beast Alpha and McLaren 720S.
Price & Availability
The Chevrolet Corvette C3 had an original buying price of 6,000 that has since been reduced to 850,000. Upgrades cost 2,332,950 or 16,255 while Pro Kits require 1,313,450, 12 of each Class A Part, 16 V8 Engines, 4 Early & Initial Tech each , 12 Mid-Techs, and 8 Advanced Techs.
Originally planned to be released in its debut update, a bug in Mastery that rewarded 12,550 delayed the Chevrolet Corvette C3's release until the Championship Update. It was a Holiday Rush Season Elite League reward awarded to the top 100 players in the Global Leaderboard. On January 25, 2017 (the Lunar New Year 2017 Update's release day), the Corvette C3 was made available for everyone.
From the Car Blueprints Update onwards, the Chevrolet Corvette C3 was made unpurchasable, although it was still usable in the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport's Enduro Double Down event as an Enduro Car. As of July 3, 2017, the Chevrolet Corvette C3 is now available again.
