Description[]
The Chevrolet Silverado Centennial Edition commemorates the 100 year anniversary of the first Chevrolet pickup truck being debued in 1918, and also served to end of the generation model as a new iteration would arrive in 2019. The smaller Chevrolet Colorado also recieved Centennial Edition package, both sharing unique features such as heritage bowtie emblems, 100 year door badges, and an exclusive Centennial Blue paint.
The Centennial Silverado was only available on the LTZ Z71 trim, exclusively as a Crew Cab Short Box model, with a limited selection of options The Centennial Edition's differences are largely cosmetic, In addition to it's unique paint, the Centennial also has custom painted rims with chrome inserts and chrome heritage bowties that can be found inside and out. The Silverado retains the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 that produces 420 horsepower and 460 pound-ft. of torque, an 8 speed automatic transmission, as well as Z71 off-road features such as Rancho Monotube shocks and an automatically-locking rear differential.
Asphalt Xtreme[]
Overview[]
The Chevrolet Silverado Centennial Edition was added in the Porsche Update's final soft update as a high Class A Pickup, and was the final new vehicle to have it's own Special Project from the Gameloft version of Asphalt Xtreme.
The Silverado CE requires its own 30 to unlock, and starts at a rank of 27. Prior to the removal of the fuel system, Oil changes took 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete and cost 275 per change.
The Centennial Edition depicted in game is decently modified, but largely retains its unique cosmetic features the special trim provides. Modifications include a front bulbar, lifted suspension, a roof rack outfitted with fog lights on the truck cab, a camper shell with a roof rack holding a spare tire installed, a custom exhaust, fender flares, and running boards. All 3 livery options preserve the Centennial Blue exterior color.
Performance[]
The Chevrolet Silverado Centennial Edition is another Chevrolet pickup that is plagued by physics issues and bugged suspension. On paper, the Silverado boasts a high top speed stat that rivals the Chevrolet C10, potentially being a capable, albeit slightly slower competitor to the C10, much like the GMC Sierra 2500 HD. However, due to it having one of the most bugged, unpredictable, and frustrating handling in the game, the Silverado is far too unreliable to be used over other contenders. Even without the bugs considered, the handling of the Silverado is extremely heavy and stiff coupled with a lackluster drifting radius, while not to the same extent as the Ford Super Duty F-450 Platinum, it can hamper drift boosting and air speed potential as the handling can prevent drivers from drifting in time. Further hampering the Silverado is its poor acceleration, while not the worst in the archetype, it is not capable of knocking down racers at the start as reliably as the C10, Chevrolet 3100, or even the Sierra, a huge benefit that can compound upon a pickup's acceleration issues.
The Silverado is capped at level 35 before requiring rank-up tools to upgrade further. Fortunately, despite its shortcomings, the Silverado is far superior than the Ford Racing Ranger Dakar for Class A, while perhaps not as reliable, the overall pace a skilled player can make can is quicker with the Silverado than the Ranger, making it the best level 35 pickup when not considering rank-up tools. It is recommended to keep the Silverado at 35 as the physics issues are more containable and less likely to cause a wreck.
At level 50, the Silverado becomes even more of a deathtrap than it was at level 35. It is at this point where the physics issues is at its worst, while it is possible to do reasonably quick lap times through continuous trial and error, it is not worth the frustration, especially when better alternative pickups like the C10 is available. The acceleration makes drift boosting at the start of races extremely more difficult and unreliable given the stiff handling.
Speed Modifier Approximation[]
* when using the Land Rover Defender as 100 % benchmark
The Chevrolet Silverado Centennial Edition excels in top speed, with a mixture of high displayed speeds and a decent speed modifier. The Silverado's top speed when not on the ground rivals the C10, and even surpasses it marginally. Unfortunately, the Silverado falls behind in max airspeed, and has a substantially worse acceleration stat, reaching level 3 nitro from a standstill in 6.6 seconds, compared to the C10's rapid 5.85 seconds, and the 3100's quicker 5.6 seconds, not considering the bugged physics.
Time-Limited Events[]
There is some use for the Silverado in time-limited events, the Netflix version has seen free ride events dedicated exclusively to the Silverado. In terms of championships, it is less useful as Class A vehicles are not usually available for championships and warm-ups, in addition to the C10 being a superior option. Tracks where the C10 excels at are also tracks where the the Silverado can do well, if patient enough.
Conclusion[]
Without considering the physics issues, the Chevrolet Silverado Centennial Edition is not a particularly useful vehicle, and is not worth prioritizing rank up tools for. The poor acceleration, stiff handling, limited availability in events, rare to find blueprints, and the fact that players might find the level 35 version to be more stable, are too many drawbacks for the Silverado to be a top priority addition to the garage.
With the Netflix Version removing a decent amount of pickups, the Silverado CE is still overshadowed by the C10 and 3100.
