- Main article: Credits
Credits are the basic currency of Asphalt 8.
- Unit: Credit
- Spending:
- Buying vehicles (as of the 2024 Spring Update, this is only applied to the Audi R8 e-tron, Cadillac ATS, Cadillac XTS, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive & Audi TTS Coupé)
- Upgrades (if not Fusion Coins only)
- Decals (if not Token only)
- Since the 2019 Holiday Update, pro upgrades are no longer possible with Credits. They now require →Fusion Coins instead.
- Earning:
- Finishing races
- Rewards from Mastery
- Rewards from Moto Blitz
- Multiplayer League reward
- Multi-Credits (Watching an ad after races)
- Rewards from Time-Limited Events
- Double credits
- Buying in the Gauntlet store.
- Buying in the Multiplayer store
- Daily Tasks
- Multiplayer daily race rewards
- Gauntlet daily challenge rewards
- Weekly VIP Bundle ( 36,000 for VIP level 1-5, 50,000 for VIP level 6-10, 60,000 for VIP level 11-15)
- Multiplayer season points (Before the 2021 Spring Update)
- Festival (Before the 2021 Lunar New Year Update)
- Auto exchange if the player has leftover coins after reaching level 25
- Festival Special (Before the 2020 Christmas Update)
- Buying:
- Buying for →Gauntlet Badges in the Gauntlet Store
- Real money: Credits can be bought with Credit Packs in the store. Especially for less advanced players, the prices for Credit Packs are completely out of proportion. They depend on the player's Career Stars: For the same price, advanced players get more than double the amount of Credits than beginners. Credits are much easier to earn in-game than Tokens (see Farming), so buying Credits with real money should only be considered as a last resort.
- Exchange rates:
- Fusion Coins: Credits cannot be converted directly into →Fusion Coins, but since the 2020 Halloween Update, dual prices in Credits and Fusion Coins have become the same, so it can generally be assumed that 1 = 1.
- Gauntlet Badges: 500 can be bought for 10, so 1 = 0.02 ( 1 = 50).
- Tokens: Credits cannot be exchanged into →Tokens, but comparing in-game Credit and Token prices delivers an exchange rate of 1 = 0.005 ( 1 = 200) for advanced players. Details:
- Price comparison of Credit and Token Packs in the store:
- Combined Credits/Tokens prices in current Upgrade tables show that Token prices can be calculated by dividing the Credits price by 200 and rounding to 5, so 1 = 200.
- Other: At the end of first generation Festival events, leftover →Festival Coins were automatically converted to Credits with the rate 1 = 12.
Fusion Coins[]

Fusion Coins are both a random and a premium currency that has replaced →Fusion Points in the 2019 Holiday Update. As they can only be obtained by selling a random currency (→Cards), they become a random currency as well. As the process of selling cards for Fusion Coins is extremely lossy and as Pro upgrades require huge amounts of Fusion Coins, they are de facto a premium currency.
- Unit: Fusion Coin
- Spending:
- Pro upgrades (only in combination with →Cards). Since the 2019 Holiday Update, this is the only way to pro vehicles.
- Buying vehicles. Since the 2020 Halloween Update, players can purchase cars that used to be available in time-limited events.
- This was removed in the 2024 Spring Update with all vehicles now can only be purchased either by Credits, Tokens, Voucher (during a sale) or a bundle
- Earning:
- Rewards from Time-Limited Events
- Multiplayer League reward
- Daily Tasks (discontinued)
- Free daily bundle

- Automatic: 1 every 10 minutes
- Fuel refill: Complete refill of all 10 Fuel Points, granted in Daily Bonus for VIP players and in Daily ads for Non-VIP players since the 2019 Halloween Update. Accumulated Fuel refills are displayed instead of the Token option when a player taps the + icon behind the fuel bar. As only the difference to 10 Fuel Points is refilled, the fuel bar should be nearly empty before applying a Fuel refill in order not to waste too many free Fuel Points.

Gauntlet Tickets are used to enter Gauntlet races. They cannot be earned or bought, but during a Gauntlet season, players are granted 5 per day for free. Once a player has used up the five free tickets, →Golden Gauntlet Tickets are used instead if the player has any.
Gauntlet Tickets cannot be carried over from one season to the following one; they are reset at the end of each season.
Both normal and Golden Gauntlet Tickets have a second small icon version that is shown on the button of the pre-race screen. It is very similar to that of the →Season Ticket in Multiplayer but has three instead of four dots.

Season Tickets are used to enter Multiplayer races. Since the automatic refill time for Season Tickets is only 1 minute (they were formerly longer), there is no need to earn or buy them. This makes Multiplayer races basically free, as waiting in the lobby and finishing a race always takes more than one minute. Up to 50 tickets can be stored at a time if they are earned. In (the rare) event the player enters without a ticket, the player will not receive rating changes upon finishing a race. This has since been removed.

In this case, the Fusion Coin price is hidden and only the Token price is shown. The 2020 Lunar New Year Update removed this option for Vehicle Kit Cards. Players with →VIP Levels get discounts. Gauntlet Badges were a secondary currency introduced in the 2020 Christmas Update. They can only be earned as Gauntlet season rewards and can be spent in the Gauntlet Store for buying items or buying extra dices in Treasure Rushes starting from the Hot Winter Season Update.
On March 25, 2024, Gameloft announced that from March 25, 2024 onwards, the Gauntlet Store will permanently be removed from the game while Gauntlet Badges are also no longer obtainable from Gauntlet Season rewards after the removal of the Gauntlet store. But the Gauntlet Badges can still be used for buying Multiplayer Badges ( 1,000 for 100) for a limited time right after the removal of the Gauntlet store and it can still be used for buying extra dices in Treasure Rushes until the player run out of the leftover Gauntlet Badges.

Festival Coins were introduced together with the first generation of Festivals. Each Festival had its own currency, all with the same functionality but with different icons and names. While the first Festival Coins of the 5th Anniversary were named Anniversary Coins and the Halloween Festival used Halloween Coins, later Festivals only used the simplified name Festival Coins.
Besides serving as a real currency, spent Festival Coins also accumulated as a level indicator, enabling players to obtain milestone rewards after reaching certain amounts of spent Coins.
Festival Coins as a real currency were discontinued with the second generation of Festivals where they became mere level indicators to unlock tier rewards. See →Festival Coins (second generation).

Fusion Points were a subsidiary currency with the sole purpose of selling and buying →Cards. Fusion Points cannot be earned, bought or spent. The only way is to exchange Cards for Fusion Points and vice versa. The word "fusion" is just used to disguise that the transaction is in fact a currency exchange.
As with most currency transactions in real life, this exchange is always connected with a loss. An additional disadvantage is that players cannot directly get Cards for Fusion Points, but only via random containers: There are three Pro Kit Boxes that can be bought with Fusion Points, granting random cards that are only vaguely defined by the concept of rarity.
The balance display of Fusion Points has three sections marking the thresholds for each of the three Fusion Boxes. A yellow bar shows the player's current amount of Fusion Points. An additional turquoise bar indicates the amount of Fusion Points that would be added if the currently chosen card was fused with the Fuse now button. The Fusion Boxes can be bought with the Check it button.
