Honda is a Japanese carmaker and former Formula One team and current engine supplier based in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. The company was founded by Soichiro Honda in 1946, but incorporated two years later. Soichiro Honda was known for having a special relationship with three-time Formula One champ Ayrton Senna. Also, Honda was the first Japanese car company to have a dedicated luxury brand: Acura. Formerly, Honda participated in Formula One as a constructor in 1964 but withdrew in 1992. In 2015, Honda returned as an engine supplier, supplying for McLaren, paying tribute to Ayrton Senna, because during the time of Ayrton Senna, McLaren powered Senna's McLaren cars to victory. As of 2019, the team supplies engines for Scuderia Toro Rosso and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. At the 2019 Austrian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen won the race, marking Honda's first victory of F1's V6 turbo-hybrid era. Honda currently supplies engines to the Williams, McLaren, Ligier, and Jordan F1 teams.
