This article is about the C6 model used in Asphalt 7, Asphalt 5 and Asphalt 4. For the succeeding C7 model, see Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C7).

The Chevrolet Corvette (C6) ZR1 is the most powerful production variant of the C6 generation Corvette.

Overview[]

The ZR1 was first reported by several print and online publications, based on rumors that General Motors was developing a production version of the Corvette above the Z06 level under the internal code name Blue Devil (named after CEO Rick Wagoner's alma mater, Duke University). The car was originally rumored to feature a supercharged LS7 engine producing more than 650 hp (485 kW) with prices reported to exceed $130,000.99 USD.

General Motors officially revealed the 2009 Corvette ZR1 on December 19, giving a press release and photographs of the car. GM confirmed a supercharged 6.2 L LS9 V8 producing 638 hp (476 kW). Performance figures were not released, but GM acknowledged that the car was capable of 205 mph (330 km/h), making it the fastest production Corvette ever.

The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 appears as an starter Tier 6 car.

The Corvette is an extremely nitro-focused car; it has a low raw top speed of 205 mph / 330 kmh (which is slower than the McLaren MP4-12C), quick nitro acceleration, excellent handling and a total top speed of 254 mph / 410 kmh, which is comparable to the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SV or the Aston Martin One-77, competitive cars unlocked much later on. The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1's biggest weakness is its poor nitro efficiency.

The Corvette ZR1 can be considered a Tier 6 equivalent of the Dodge Charger SRT8; another car that has strong acceleration and total speed relative to its rank that also has very poor nitro efficiency. While the Corvette possesses strong acceleration, especially when upgraded. this is heavily undermined by its nitro efficiency, as it cannot use the level 2 nitro; its poor nitro efficiency makes the Corvette deplete nitro before it fully launches, especially in lower upgrade stages, forcing it to use level 1 nitro to accelerate. While the Corvette's total speed is competitive even against the fastest of Tier 6 cars, it still struggles to compete with them as the Corvette's poor nitro efficiency and extreme nitro bias makes the Corvette rely on constant drifting, and losing a lot of speed while doing so, compared to the likes of the Enzo Ferrari.

Thus, while the Corvette ZR1 is capable of competing with the best of its Tier on paper, it often doesn't translate in practice as its low nitro efficiency greatly limits its performance on most tracks, especially on speed-focused tracks like Reykjavík or Rio. While the car can be used effectively, it requires a track with ample nitro supplies, as well as a very high learning curve on nitro management. Nonetheless, with its superior total speed relative to early Tier 6 vehicles, the Corvette ZR1 is superior to a majority of them, and with the capacity to challenge the best of Tier 6 in any degree, the Corvette ZR1 can be considered one of the best starter car across the seven Tiers, in that unlike the Corvette, most other starter cars do not have comparable performance to 'endgame' vehicles of their tiers, let alone have a chance to beat them.

Asphalt 5 Asphalt 5[]
