Following the merger of Ford's North American Special Vehicle Team (SVT), the European TeamRS and the Australian Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) divisions to the development of Ford's global performance vehicles, Ford's Advanced Product Creation and Performance Vehicles director Hermann Salenbauch announced that the decision to sell Ford Focus RS/SVT to North America depends on feedback from the media and customers. However, the product would only appear 2 years after the release of the third generation Focus models. On August 4, 2011 Ford's global boss for small cars, Gunnar Herrmann, revealed to magazine Drive that the third iteration of the hot hatch was in the works. The new Focus RS will be a 5 door hot hatch for its first time and FWD with more than 330 hp (227 KW) which will be transferred to the road with so-called ‘Revoknuckle’ suspension. The new Focus RS is expected to arrive towards the end of 2015 in Europe and the rest of the world; in North America it will arrive after 2015. The new Ford Focus RS's competitors are the Volkswagen Golf R, Subaru WRX STI, Ford Fiesta ST and the Volkswagen Golf GTI for the North American market. The new Ford Focus RS's competitors are the Renault Mégane R.S., Opel Astra OPC, Volkswagen Golf GTI and the Kia Cee'd GT for the European market.
Asphalt 7: Heat
The Focus RS is the first and the lowest-end Tier 2 car that can be purchased. It requires 20 stars to unlock, costs $54,200, and can be lent for $7,500. Its acceleration is very slow, about 6 seconds, even with its nitro. Its nitro, while looks weak, is very efficient. Handling of this car is so-so, due to its low acceleration and its FWD nature.
Asphalt 8: Airborne
The Ford Focus RS appears as a low Class C car with the following rank statistics:
- Starting rank: 1012
- MAX rank: 1246 (+234)
- MAX+PRO rank: 1355 (+109)
- Tuning Kit bonus: +53
- Nitro Efficiency: 6/12/16
As of the Fifteenth Anniversary Update, the Focus RS is now a high-end Class D car.
The Focus RS has a good level 3 nitro acceleration of roughly 3.5 seconds but does have mediocre nitro efficiency.
The Focus RS is faster than all the cars before it. It competes fairly well against the faster but more fragile KTM 1290 Super Duke R and the faster but less agile Lamborghini Urus. However, the Focus RS is no longer competitive when faced off against the Infiniti FX50 and higher cars.
The Focus RS heavily relies on its good acceleration and good handling to keep up with other cars around the same rank. The Focus RS has a wide drifting radius.
The Focus RS counts towards the Everyday Rides collections.
As of the 2019 Spring Update, upgrades cost 315,000 while Pro Kits require 77,600, 5 of each Class C Part, 10 Early & Initial Techs each and 8 i5 Engines.
The Ford Focus RS appears in Asphalt Xtreme as a low Class D Rally Car.
Unlike its previous versions, Focus RS now has several off-road modifications including a grill mounted light-bar, a larger rear spoiler mounted on the taillights, and off-road tires.
As the game's starter vehicle since the Alps Update, no blueprints are needed to unlock the Focus RS and its starting rank is level 1.
The Focus RS has a high top speed, slow acceleration, marginally above-average nitro duration, and below-average nitro power. Acceleration issues can be remedied to a degree with the drift-boost trick. As a rally car, the recharge rate of its nitro is extremely fast when drifting or when the nitro is disengaged, and an even better effect can be gained by drifting with no nitro or drifting just before getting airtime. Airspeed potential, however, is very weak like the other rally cars.
At level 50, the Focus RS is above average for its archetype. It can be described as an upgraded level 50 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X as its acceleration and nitro power are very similar to the Lancer. The drift-boosting effects are also very similar to the Lancer as both get a similar amount of boost in acceleration and handling. The Focus however has a tighter drifting radius and a much higher top speed, especially when using all-in nitro.
The displayed and approximate fake speed of the Level 50 Focus RS are:
(Speed Modifier is ~97% when using the Land Rover Defender as a benchmark.)
- Top Speed w/o boost: 163.5 mph (~158.6 mph)
- Top Speed w/ Level 1 long nitro: 174 mph (~168.8 mph)
- Top Speed w/ Level 2 long nitro: 177 mph (~171.7 mph)
- Top Speed w/ Level 3 long nitro: 182 mph (~176.5 mph)
- Top Speed w/ All-in nitro: 200 mph (~194 mph)
- Max Air Speed: 194 mph (~188.2 mph)
At level 50, the Focus RS has one of the highest land top speeds in the game, surpassing most rally cars at the same level, and being comparable to the Mini All4Racing X-Raid. It is, however, slower in practice than the X-Raid due to the significantly worse acceleration. On less acceleration demanding tracks, the Focus is ~1-2 seconds slower on tracks like Coachella Valley, but can be a lot worse on acceleration demanding tracks like Gobi.
Ultimately, the Focus RS is not recommended for upgrading to level 50 with its steep upgrade requirements and the X-Raid being the better choice for multiplayer and limited-time events where Class C vehicles are allowed.
