The Ford Mustang Mach-E 1400 is an electric high-performance prototype crossover SUV developed by Ford Performance and Vaughn Gittin Jr's RTR Vehicles.
Description[]
Between the reveal of the Mach-E in late 2019 but prior to it going on sale in December 2020, the 1400 prototype was developed in collaboration between Ford Performance and Vaughn Gittin Jr's RTR (Ready to Rock) Vehicles.
Following on from Ford Performance's Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, an all-electric drag car, the 1400 produces 1400 hp (1044 kW) and 1832 ft·lb (2484 N·m) of torque with its seven motors and a lithium nickel manganese cobalt battery. It can also switch between drivetrains; all-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, or front-wheel drive, allowing for multiple setups for multiple different racing disciplines.
The aerodynamic elements attached to the bodywork help generate up to 2204 lb (1000 kg) of downforce at 160 mph (257 km/h), helping keep it planted at high-speed. Although fitted with four seats, the bodywork includes composite elements to reduce the overall weight.
In April 2021, Ford Performance pitted the Cobra Jet 1400 against the Mach-E 1400 in a quarter-mile drag race. The Cobra Jet 1400 covered the quarter mile in 8.47 seconds at 168 mph (270 km/h) fitted with drag radials and had a rear-wheel drive setup, whilst the Mach-E 1400 covered the quarter mile in 10.78 seconds at 135 mph (216 km/h) fitted with racing slicks and had an all-wheel drive setup.
