A Gift Box is a random container in Asphalt Street Storm Racing granting blueprints and other items. Gift Boxes can be reached via the Gift Box button on the main screen and come in three main variants:
Prior to January 2021, it could be useful not to open boxes directly because Silver and Gold Gift Boxes often had "Chance Promos" which promised a "10x chance" of getting a promoted blueprint.
- If players already had the promoted car and did not want another one, they could wait until the Chance Promo was over and then open the boxes.
- On the other hand, it could be advantageous to wait if a Chance Promo for a desired blueprint would appear because boxes already owned by the player wwould also have the increased chances for the then-promoted blueprint.
Chance Promos are now discontinued, with the last box being observed on January 19, 2021.
Availability[]
All Gift Boxes can be bought for Diamonds, but they also have a timer that makes them available for free in certain invervals:
- Bronze Gift Box – 4 hours
- Silver Gift Box – 12 hours
- Gold Gift Box – 24 hours
Before claiming a free box, players have to watch an ad video. Asphalt Streetstorm has no VIP mode, so players always have to watch the video even if they spent real money for in-game items before.
Possible rewards[]
Each Gift Box grants three rewards which can be of the following types:
- Subscribers (random number)
- Diamonds (50, 75 or 100)
- Cash (10,000, 25,000 or 40,000)
- 10 Boosts
- 1 Blueprint
- 1 Decal
- 1 Paint
- 1 Underglow

Sample space and drop rates[]
Gift Boxes do not have a description like in other Asphalt games ("Grants at least 1 [...]", "Grants 3 [...] cards"). Instead, every box has a small scrolling screen saying "Here's some of the items you can unbox" with some random examples. Neither does the game list all possible outcomes for a box (the sample space), nor does it provide drop rates for the different items. Basically, players do not know what they can get, how much of it and how probable it is.
Not all items are granted by every box. Although there is a little star icon under each box screen reading "Exclusive to this gift box", none of the items is marked.
Statistics[]
By tracking the outcomes from larger numbers of opened boxes, some general hidden rules can be found. All statistical data on this page is based on results from WikiProject Statistics (5,799 items from the 3 most common boxes since the last changes). All statistical values on this page are self-updating and may change with an increasing sample size.
Hidden rules[]
- The three items granted by a Gift Box are never of the same type. For example, obtaining two blueprints from a box is impossible. Technically, every Gift Box consists of three different random experiments with different sample spaces and probabilities.
- Every Gift Box is guaranteed to grant Subscribers. The number of granted Subscribers is randomized.
- Silver Gift Boxes and Gold Gift Boxes are guaranteed to grant one Blueprint. Bronze Gift Boxes do not have this guarantee.
- Diamonds, Cash and Boosts exclude each other, i. e. a box that grants Cash will not grant Diamonds or Boosts. The same goes for paints, decals and underglows.
A | B | C | D |
---|---|---|---|
Subscribers | Blueprint | Diamonds Cash Boosts |
Paint Decal Underglow |
This leads to the table of different experiments to the right. All Boxes always have experiment A (Subscribers). Silver and Gold Boxes also always have experiment B (Blueprint). The rest is random, i. e. a Bronze Box can have (A, B, C), (A, B, D) or (A, C, D); Silver and Gold Boxes can have (A, B, C) or (A, B, D).
Subscribers[]
Box | Minimum | Maximum | Mean |
---|---|---|---|
Bronze Gift Box | 26 | 186 | 61 |
Silver Gift Box | 26 | 186 | 87 |
Gold Gift Box | 26 | 186 | 121 |
At first glance, all boxes grant a random number of Subscribers roughly between 1 and 200. However, the average output is different for each box. The statistically observed values are shown in the table to the right.
The reason is that the output of Subscribers is not completely random. Instead, it is divided into three options, similar to the Diamond rewards where only 50, 75 or 100 Diamonds are possible.
The difference is that these three options are not fixed numbers but intervals within which the number of granted Subscribers is then randomized. In the scatter chart to the right, these intervals appear as separated "clouds". Values outside of these clouds are impossible, for example 50 or 100 .
The three box types have different drop rates for each interval. For Bronze Gift Boxes, most rewards lie in the lowest interval; Silver Gift Boxes have a relatively even distribution, and Gold Gift Boxes grant more Subscribers in the highest interval. As Bronze Gift Boxes are the most frequent, the lowest cloud in the chart is the densest.
Blueprints[]
Although Asphalt Streetstorm does not document any concept of rarity for Blueprints, their different colors suggest that there is one. In fact, blueprints of the same color lie within certain sale value ranges (which can overlap), and they also have in common that they generally become rarer the higher the sale value. Besides, some boxes do not grant blueprints of a certain color.
The Renault Clio R.S. 220 Trophy EDC Blueprint is special insofar as it is the only blueprint of orange rarity and can only be obtained from Bronze Gift Boxes.
The drop rates in the rightmost column are weighted averages that take into account that players usually open different amounts of Bronze, Silver and Gold Gift Boxes. See Most common boxes for details. For a detailed overview of availability, drop rates and sale values of single blueprints, see Item availability matrix.
The following blueprints are not listed in any of the box preview screens and are unavailable since the game development has been stopped. The only way to obtain the car would be winning it from another player in a Pink Slip.
Diamonds, Cash and Boosts[]
Box | Mean values per box | ||
---|---|---|---|
Bronze Gift Box | 11 | 5,813 | 3.3 |
Silver Gift Box | 10 | 4,201 | 1.5 |
Gold Gift Box | 28 | 5,070 | 0 |
Diamonds, Cash and Boosts are only granted in fixed numbers.
As with Subscribers, the three boxes have different drop rates for each option which leads to the different mean values in the table to the right.
Paints, decals and underglows[]
Item | Drop rates | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
(%) |
(%) |
(%) |
Weighted average (%) | |
Paints | 0.00 | 6.64 | 7.23 | 3.24 |
Decals | 19.65 | 6.58 | 2.91 | 12.81 |
Underglows | 0.00 | 5.86 | 7.42 | 3.05 |
Gift Boxes only grant 1 paint, 1 decal or 1 underglow. The three boxes have different drop rates for these items which are shown in the table to the right.
The drop rates in the right column are weighted averages that take into account that players usually open different amounts of Bronze, Silver and Gold Gift Boxes. See Most common boxes for details. For more information, see Paint, Decal and Underglow.
