• The central exhaust placement of the Infiniti Project Black S SE is based on the initial version of the Project Black S that was presented at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
• The Infiniti Black S SE's left door opens inwards when wrecked. A few other cars have this issue as well, including the Mazda RX-8 Special Edition and Volkswagen Beetle Turbo.
• The Infiniti Project Black S Special Edition carries the following firsts:
  1. The first Special Edition car to only have Pro upgrades.
  2. The first hybrid Special Edition car.
  3. The first Japanese car to have a Lunar New Year livery.
     • It is also the third Japanese Special Edition car, after the Mazda RX-8 Special Edition and the Nissan 370Z Special Edition.
