The Lamborghini Asterion LPi 910-4, also referred to as simply Lamborghini Asterion, is a hybrid concept supercar that was unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
The Lamborghini Asterion LPi 910-4 is the first hybrid Lamborghini in the history of the company. It was named after the Minotaur, a creature in Greek mythology that is portrayed with the head and tail of a bull and the body of a man, and known as Asterion in Crete.
The Lamborghini Asterion uses the Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4's 5.2 L (5,204 cc) naturally aspirated V10 engine, which alone produces 602 hp (449 kW) due to being sourced from the Huracán LP 610-4. As a hybrid, the Asterion features one electric motor on the transaxle and another two on the front axle. Its combined power output in hybrid mode (both petrol and electric) is 898 hp (670 kW). It is currently speculated that its torque is far above 413 ft·lb (560 N·m).
The Lamborghini Asterion uses the same seven-speed Lamborghini Doppia Frizione (LDF) dual-clutch automatic transmission as on the Huracán and is all-wheel-drive, with the front wheels also powered by the electric motors. The car weighs 3968 lb (1800 kg), giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 6.59 lb (2.99 kg) per hp or 334 hp (249 kW) per tonne.
The Lamborghini Asterion is stated to do 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds and have a top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h).
The Asterion was confirmed to not enter production in favor of the Lamborghini Urus. However, the Asterion's hybrid technology and the Terzo Millennio's supercapacitor technology were integrated into the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37, introduced at the 2019 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Lamborghini Asterion appears as a mid (now low) Class B car with the following rank statistics:
At stock, the Lamborghini Asterion has a top speed rating of 320—similar to other Class B cars at around the same starting rank—high acceleration stat (73), below average handling stat (37.51), and above average nitro efficiency stat (58.07). The Asterion's lower than average handling hinders its acceleration when exiting corners, while also making it lose a lot of speed when turning or driving on rough surfaces; these are exacerbated by the Asterion's wide drift radius. However, its above average nitro stat allows it to maintain its top speed and shockwave for longer periods of time than several other cars, especially on long straights, while it can also use nitro to reduce the amount of speed lost when driving on stretches of rough surfaces or around slight bends.
The Lamborghini Asterion's upgrades provide minimal boosts to acceleration and handling, while giving the greatest improvements to top speed and nitro efficiency. Thus, its performance remains largely unchanged even at MAX, being able to accelerate to its top speed quickly and maintain it on straights, while losing a lot of speed on rough surfaces and around corners without the use of nitro.
With its extremely consistent performance regardless of upgrades, as well as having a stable source for blueprints, the Lamborghini Asterion is one of the easier cars for players to MAX and familiarise themselves with, assuming they are able to work with its shortcomings. Along with the Porsche 911 GTS Coupé, the Asterion serves as a basic Class B car that can be used to complete Career Mode races, as well as Daily Car Loot and Car Hunt events that give blueprints for cars with better performance statistics.
The Lamborghini Asterion's blueprints are obtained through the Goal Combo reward, which requires 6 Daily Goals to be completed. 5 blueprints are obtainable until the player has collected enough blueprints to unlock the car, or the car has been unlocked, whereupon it gives 1 blueprint until the car is fully starred up.
The Lamborghini Asterion LPi 910-4, shortened just to Lamborghini Asterion in-game, was added in the Santa's Gift Update as a high-end Class A car with the following statistics:
- Starting rank: 1343
- This was changed to 1289 in the ? Update.
- MAX rank: 1563 (+220)
- This was changed to 1484 (+195) in the ? Update.
- MAX+PRO rank: 1695 (+132)
- This was changed to 1670 (+186) in the ? Update.
- Tuning Kit bonus: +45
- Nitro Efficiency: 5/10/15
As of the Fifteenth Anniversary Update, the Asterion is now a high-end Class B car.
The Lamborghini Asterion acts as an upgrade to the Lamborghini Miura, carrying the same basic performance traits.
The Asterion can reach its maximum total speed of 284.0 mph/457.3 km/h in 3.6 seconds and sports similar handling and drifting capabilities to the Lamborghini Huracán, although it still doesn't drift as sharply as the Huracán.
In summary, the Asterion is very similar to the McLaren P1™ in terms of acceleration and speed with some handling similarities to the Lamborghini Huracán and Miura.
Upon its introduction, the Lamborghini Asterion was a frequently-used car for Multiplayer, often rivaled by the likes of the Lamborghini Miura, Range Rover Evoque Coupe HSE Dynamic, Shelby Cobra 427, Lamborghini Estoque, and Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS.
With the introduction of the TVR Sagaris, Aston Martin Vulcan and McLaren Mercedes MP4-25, the Asterion's dominance in Multiplayer has receded. This is made even worse with the additions of the Lotus Evora Sport 410 and McLaren MP4/8, all of which are faster and more competitive than the Asterion at almost any rank. The addition of the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition, Apollo Intensa Emozione, Arrinera Hussarya GT, and Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition further renders the Asterion vulnerable at most ranks.
In Events, the Asterion now replaces the Savage Rivale GTR and McLaren P1™ in mid-high Class A events, although as of the Lunar New Year 2017 Update, the Asterion now suffers the problem of restrictive availability.
Price & Availability
Starting with the Lunar New Year 2017 Update, the Lamborghini Asterion is offered as one of various possible rewards by watching a bonus video ad, available at the main menu. Before that, it cost 525,000 to purchase. It is also part of the 30th and 37th Multiplayer Seasons, Holiday Rush Season 3 and Grill Season respectively, as a Champion League reward. Players who already own the Asterion would win 100,000 instead (Holiday Rush Season 3 only).
The Asterion was made available for purchase for a limited-time during the following periods:
As of the 2019 Spring Update, upgrades cost 1,435,000 while Pro Kits require 477,600, 18 of each Class A Part, 12 Early & Initial Techs each, 24 Mid-Techs, and 12 Advanced Techs and 28 V10 Engines.
