The Local Wi-Fi Race is a race option available under the More Racing Options in the "Play" page on Asphalt 8: Airborne.
A player can either create a room or join a room already created by any other available player on the same Wi-Fi network.
Similar to Quick Solo Race, creating a room gives the player access to select game mode, race track and the vehicle class. Other player who'll be joining the room will have to play with this same exact settings.
Unlike Multiplayer, there's no option to choose the number of laps, and it is fixed at 2.
The following game modes, race tracks and the vehicle classes are available:
Note: Player has the ability to randomize the selection cards at bottom.
After selecting the settings, the room creator has to choose his car according to the vehicle class. If the creator (or other players) doesn't own any car from that class, a FREE TRY vehicle will be provided to be used in the race. Any boosters if wanted will have to be picked before creating the room.
After creating the room, the creator has to wait for at least one other player to join the room before starting the race. A maximum of 8 players can play in one room (including the creator). Any unused player slots can be filled with AIs.
If any way the creator leaves the room or the game crashes, all other players will also be disconnected.
Joining an already created room only requires the player to choose a vehicle of their owned collection of the creator's selected class. If no vehicle of the selected class is not owned by the player, a FREE TRY vehicle will be provided to be used in the race. Any boosters if wanted will have to be picked after choosing the vehicle.
After the players are ready on the lobby, the players has to wait for the room creator to Launch the race.
Winning and completing knockdowns in a Local Wi-Fi Race can gain you achievements.
