The Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR AMG is a road-legal version of the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR racing car.
The Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR AMG is a supercar/racing car built by Mercedes-AMG. The road version, a homologation car for the CLK to participate in the 1997 FIA GT Championship, produced from 1998 to 1999, is powered by a 6.9L V12 engine producing 612bhp. At the time, Guinness World Records claimed the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR AMG as the most expensive production car ever built, priced at $1,547,620. This car's doors open upwards like butterfly doors instead of the doors being hinged to the front. Although it has "CLK" in its name, shared with the Mercedes coupe of the same name, the only part it shared with that car was the headlights. A total of 25 cars were built.
