The Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series (R230) is a limited-production performance version of the 2008-2011 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG.
Overview
The Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series utilizes a 6.0L (5,980 cc) twin-turbo V12, named the M275 AMG. The turbochargers are 12% larger over the regular SL 65 AMG, and the optimized wastegate ducts allow more air to be let in. The intake air ducts and exhaust system have been altered to improve response and reduce the exhaust gas backpressure. The Black Series is 550 lb (249 kg) lighter than regular SL 65 AMG by the use of light carbon fiber composites (CFRP) parts and the omission of the SL's normal foldable hardtop roof, replacing it with a fixed roof, which thus allowed for a retractable rear wing.
A revised version of the SL 65 AMG Black Series's M275 AMG V12 engine, renamed the M158, was later used in the Pagani Huayra.
Asphalt 7: Heat / Asphalt Injection
The Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series is a Tier 4 vehicle. It requires 295 stars to unlock and costs 320,000 Cash.
Asphalt 8: Airborne
One of the original 9 Class A cars, the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series is a low-end Class A car. It starts ranked at 1313, with MAX being 1470, and MAX+PRO being 1545. The car receives +36 from Tuning Kits.
The Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series's performance can be described as mediocre for its class. Due to its weight and size, its acceleration and handling are lacking. The low-power nitro also warrants a low efficiency combination of 9/14/18. The top speed, on the other hand, outshines those of some similarly-ranked cars. Due to its overall performance, it can basically be described as a heavily downgraded version of the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition, which has similar overall performance but is extremely biased towards top speed at the expense of everything else.
The Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series can currently be bought for 55,000 (originally 30,000) and maxed out for 364,400. Pro Kits cost 107,922.
Overall, the SL 65 AMG Black Series, while mostly useless, is required for completion of the Mercedes, German Steel, and Heavyweights collections. It is not recommended for Multiplayer races due to its mediocre all-round stats.
