  • Hi WKPQ,

I've added icons instead of the NS, TK, ET links for a try on the Pontiac Solstice GXP (Research & Development) page. I think it's more intuitive than the letters. What's your opinion?

If you agree, the shortcuts are:

    • {{ns}}A8 icon nitro starter
    • {{tk}}A8 icon tuning kit
    • {{et}}A8 icon extra tank
    • {{nstk}}A8 icon nitro starterA8 icon tuning kit
    • {{nstket}}A8 icon nitro starterA8 icon tuning kitA8 icon extra tank

Generally, boosters can be mentioned like boxes now:

    • {{Nitro starter a8}}A8 icon nitro starter Nitro Starter
    • {{Nitro starter a8|style=compact}}
    A8 icon nitro starter Nitro Starter (A8Credits 3,000 – A8Credits 7,500)
"Start all your races with a full nitro bar!"
    Duration: 10 minutes
Availability: Permanent offer, Daily Bonus, Time-limited events, Collections

See {{Nitro starter a8}} for other styles. See Booster for an overview of implemented boosters so far.

    • They look better and I agree that it's more intuitive than the initials. I'll add it to the Rimac C_Two & Acura NSX GT3 Evo pages.

      Thanks for the update.

    • Ok, I'll write the documentations then.

By the way, I forgot to move the infobox formatting from my personal .css file to the public one. The infobox on {{Nitro starter a8}} must have looked a bit poor to you. Now it should look ok. It adapts to the game type a booster is from.

  • Muoah... I "just" wanted to apply the A8 table format to {{A8UpgradePrices}}. Then I saw that another template is used for upgrades with tokens, {{A8UpgradePricesCA}} (btw, what does the suffix "CA" mean?).

Then I discovered another template, {{A8UpgradePricesCA4.2}} and yet another one, {{A8UpgradePricesCA4.2C}}. What do the last two templates do? CA4.2 for Credit-only level 1 upgrades, and CA4.2C for Credit-only level 1 and level 2 upgades, am I right? Are there any further upgrade templates in use?

    • Ok. I wanted to contact Cyc2 anyway. Their vehicle data contribbutions are super useful. I don't know if there is a list of vehicle data that can be produced of if they go into the Windows files and extract every item manually and separately.

If there was something like a list, we could share the work to update all stats pages. I've noticed that v4.5 hast changed the stats of almost ALL vehicles as the nitro factor has been unified.

As for the templates, I think they all created a new template just for one exception instead of editing the existing one. We'll see.

    • By the way, I saw that you tried out the table-ax class on Peugeot 208 WRX (upgrades). Don't be astonished – the class works fine, but somehow, the people who created Asphalt Xtreme tables confused ! for table headers and | for table cells. Therefore all Asphalt Xtreme tables have one line of normal cells and dozens of header lines. :-)

I'll write a template for that, so people don't have the work to replace all exclamation marks manually. The Ford Focus was just a try to see which information is needed for Ax upgrade tables.

  • Just stumbled upon Bugatti Veyron while going through pages with the old tabs template. Isn't this the same car as Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse and should be merged? Or does the "Grand Sport Vitesse" make the difference?

    1. Open {{Tile multiplayer global bonus}} and leave the browser tab open.
    2. Go to Special:MyPage/common.js. This page doesn't exist yet. Create it.
    3. Go to User:Guy Bukzi Montag/common.js. Copy the whole code to your common.js file and publish it.
    4. Go to Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-under-the-hood. In the section Advanced display options, check the box Enable personal JavaScript.
    5. Go back to the browser tab with {{Tile multiplayer global bonus}} and click on the template's Refresh link. The link will disappear. Instead, a countdown until the end of the current MP season is added, and the countdown for the global bonus switches from "days" to an Asphalt format (days and hours, or hours and minutes if days < 0). No more refreshing!

    • All times are given in UTC, but the countdowns should be synchronous with your local time. The MP countdown should by also exactly the same as your in-game display.
    • The Events section of Sixth Anniversary Update should now show a countdown after the MP season as well. Also the Asphalt Wiki main page.

Maybe some pages are still cached on your computer. In some cases you'll have to press Ctrl + F5 (Firefox) to clear the cache and load the live countdowns.

  • Hi WKPQ,

when I first came here, I was nearly blinded by the yellow colour scheme. Today I think it makes us quite unique. But I think there are some things that can be improved, for example the contrast of the profile header.

    Profile header
I've turned it into the Asphalt Wiki table dark grey. Example to the right. I think it fits our scheme much better now, and the orange links are finally readable with the background. Apply for all?

  • I've added a vehicle kit parameter to {{A8ProKitFormula2Header}} and {{A8ProKitFormula2}}.

This lets you skip all engine, tech and parts parameters. Instead, just add the vehicle kit parameter, followed by the required number. Last column is cost, like before.

See example on Lamborghini Terzo Millennio (upgrades).

If you don't specify vehicle kit, the templates work like before. I think this can remain as a workaround until we know more about this new kind of upgrade and other Vehicle Kit cards that may come.

  • Do you have a gneric term for all those boxes, packs etc. in the different games? They have in common that they are containers for random items. Would "random container" imply that the container itself is random, or denote that the content is random? I have some difficulties finding the right term.

      Loading editor
    • Random container should be a wide enough catch-all and denote that the contents are random. I'm not sure how "container itself is random" is different from "content is random".

        Loading editor
    • I thought it could be misunderstood as a "container randomly found somewhere in the game". :-)

Sound still weird as a page title though. In terms of probability theory, these are all urns from which items are drawn. But "urn" sounds even weirder. :D

  • Hi WKPQ,

    1. many pages (mainly the older ones) always set Asphalt game names in italics. While this is common for works of art, book titles (or game names) in general wikis, I think it's unnecessary and over the top on Asphalt Wiki. I'd like to have game names set normal.
    2. These older pages also link to the games in each and every section heading. While headings with italics are generally only "discouraged", headings with links are forbidden in Wikipedia's Manual of Style. We don't have to cling to this, but actually I never clicked on such a heading link, and most of the time it's a double link because the game name has been mentioned and linked to before.

I'm asking this because people start using the page template for vehicles. I've set the headings to normal and without links on these pages. Someone who is on a Mastery or Stats page knows what A8 and A9 are, the games don't have to be linked on these pages again.

I'd like to have all game names normal and all headings without links. Opinion?

    • Now that you've mentioned it, both do look redundant. I wouldn't mind removing italics and hyperlinks for section headers.

    • Ok, thanks.

Next question: I've installed Asphalt Xtreme, and this game has mastery, too. There's even a page for this here. I simply never saw it because categories mostly have no partend categories and are never found.

Now that we have a consensus on the naming with parentheses, it's easy to have a Mastery (Asphalt Xtreme) and a Mastery (Asphalt 8) page, as well as one parent page called Mastery, with links to the different other pages which have mostly grown too big to be all put on one main page.

This said: I've seen a page (don't remember where) which had Pagename (Asphalt 9: Legends).

Can we agree on generally skipping the ": Airborne/Legends/Adrenaline" in page name parentheses? People know the title, and the games are mostly known as A8, A9 and such.

        Loading editor
    • By the way, we could also shorten the section headings to "Asphalt 8", "Asphalt 9" etc.

        Loading editor
    • I'll agree to both.
