The Nissan GT-R is a front-engined, 2+2 supercar produced by Nissan since 2008. While no longer part of the Skyline range, it is the successor to the Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) and the Skyline name has been given over to the V35.
Description[]
Between 1969 and 1974, and again between 1989 and 2002, Nissan produced a high performance version of its Skyline coupe called the Nissan Skyline GT-R. This car proved to be iconic for Nissan and achieved much fame and success on both road and track. The Nissan GT-R, now a standalone model no longer based on the Skyline, has its roots in the Skyline GT-R.
Similar to the later generations of the Skyline GT-R, the GT-R is all-wheel drive with a twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine and has the signature four round tail lights. However, the GT-R is an entirely new model sharing little with its Skyline siblings and is a complete redesign from previous Skylines rather than an incremental evolution; the four-wheel-steering HICAS system has been removed and the GT-R now uses a twin-turbo 3.8L V6 engine called VR38DETT, which replaces the previous RB26DETT 2.6L inline-6 engine. Due to the GT-R's heritage, the chassis code for the all-new version is known as CBA-R35, or R35 for short (where CBA is the prefix for emission standard), carrying on the naming trend from previous Skyline GT-R generations. The GT-R has also retained its Skyline predecessor's nickname Godzilla, given to it by the Australian motoring publication Wheels in its July 1989 edition.
The Nissan GT-R is powered by the VR38DETT 3.8L (3,799 cc) twin-turbo DOHC V6 engine. Models produced up to 2010 produce a manufacturer-claimed power output of 478 hp (356 kW) at 6,400 rpm and torque output of 434 ft·lb (588 N·m) at 3,200 — 5,200 rpm. In 2010, these figures were updated to 523 hp (390 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 451 ft·lb (611 N·m) at 3,200 — 6,000 rpm, respectively.
Asphalt Nitro[]
The Nissan GT-R (R35), while identical to its Asphalt 8: Airborne rendition, is now a Class C car.
Asphalt 8: Airborne[]
Now named as the Nissan GT-R (R35), it appears as a low Class B car with the following statistics:
- Starting rank: 1296
- This was changed to 1256 in the ? Update
- MAX rank: 1463 (+167)
- This was changed to 1392 (+136) in the ? Update
- MAX+PRO rank: 1543 (+80)
- This was changed to 1499 (+107) in the ? Update
- Tuning Kit bonus: +39
- This was changed to +45 in the ? Update
- Stock to MAX+PRO rank difference: 247
- This was changed to 243 in the ? update.
- Nitro Efficiency: 6/11/16
As of the Fifteenth Anniversary Update, the GT-R is now a Class C car.
Performance[]
The Nissan GT-R, in the current state of the game, is in the 1500 performance rank bracket, alongside the Rezvani Beast X, Ferrari F50, and Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS.
Due to Class C cars seldom getting them, the GTR sees no use in Time Limited Events. In multiplayer, while the GTR has a top speed mirroring the ones of other 1500 cars, it severely lacks in acceleration. Whereas the F50 and Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo hit their top speed of 254 MPH (408 KMH) in 2.6 seconds, the GT-R takes 4 seconds, among the slowest for its rank bracket. This makes the GT-R vulnerable to knockdowns at the start of races from other cars. The GT-R also has a wide drifting radius and average nitro duration; while the latter is better than the F50's, it cannot compete with the extreme nitro duration vehicles at the rank such as the Camaro SS and Porsche Cayman GT4.
Overall, despite the shortcomings, the GTR is far cheaper to fully upgrade. Whereas any other 1500 car will require 2,604,000 to pro, the GTR only requires 1,000,000 - a massive difference, justifying its far worse acceleration.
Price[]
As of the Fifteenth Anniversary Update, the Nissan GT-R (R35) costs 570,000 (originally 62,500, then 67,000, then 69,000 and then 100,000).
As of the Gangstar Season Update, upgrades require 55 of each Uncommon Drivetrain, Uncommon Exhaust, Uncommon Suspension, Uncommon Tires, 60 Uncommon Tech, 160 Nissan GT-R (R35) Kit and 6,000,000.
It can be earned by banking 10,000 during the BXR Bailey Blade GT1's Enduro Double Down event, 50,000 will be rewarded if the player already has the car upon banking said EP amount.
Asphalt 7: Heat[]
The Nissan GT-R is the first Tier 5 vehicle.
As with most other starter vehicles (with the lone exception of the Corvette ZR1), the GT-R features basic statistics. The GT-R possesses weak launch, below average acceleration, below average top speed, average nitro efficiency, okay handling and drifting radius, and mediocre nitro speed. With such performance, the GT-R struggles to hit its low total speed, and unlike the BMW M3 GT2 or the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Race Car, also struggles to maintain it.
As expected from a starter car, the GT-R is only useful early on in Career Mode until any other car is unlocked, and virtually useless in other modes like Multiplayer or Asphalt Academy, as later cars offer better performance. In Career Mode, without upgrades, the GT-R is only useful until Career Cup 8, where the Ferrari FF will be unlocked; even then, it is difficult to win the race, and other alternatives unlocked at this point would most likely be more effective.
