The Optimal Split Box is a Pro Kit Box in Asphalt 8: Airborne. Together with the Optimal Shuffle Box it has replaced the Free Box 1 † and Free Box 2 † in the Fifth Anniversary Update.
Players are presented two card pairs and can choose one card from each pair. This enables them to increase the frequency of a desired card by rejecting the other one.
Description[]
The German description of the box reads "Enthält 2 gewöhnliche Karten!" (Contains 2 common cards!). This is wrong—the box does grant rare and legendary cards, like in all other language versions. It is probably a badly adapted copy of the description of the Compact Split Box which grants only common cards.
Availability[]
The Optimal Split Box can be obtained as a random reward from daily ads. Since the Fast Lane Update it is also rewarded for completing a single daily task.
Hidden rules[]
The presented card pairs follow certain rules:
- Equal type – Each pair is either Parts, Tech or Engines.
- Equal rarity – Each pair has the same rarity.
- Equal class – If the pair is Parts, they are of equal class.
- Exception – Engine cards can also appear together with Tech or Part cards. They break rule 1.
Analysis[]
Statistics[]
Although a player can only obtain 2 cards from this box, all 4 offered cards were included in the sample, so the sample size for this box shows 2476 cards from 619 boxes, instead of the expected 1238 cards. This has the advantage that all possible outcomes are included so that the relative frequencies of cards are unbiased and independent from the player's choice.

As the hidden rules guarantee that the cards of each pair are of equal type and rarity, Early Tech and Initial Tech will always be presented togther. Combined with the the box's general high frequency of Tech cards, this makes it ideal for players looking for Early or Initial Tech: A player in need of Initial Tech cards can double their current relative frequency of 13.37 % to 26.74 % by always choosing them from the Tech pairs.
