The Phantom Riders Update is the ninth content update for Asphalt Legends, and the 46th update overall.

History[]

In the What's Next: Roadmap 2025 video posted on March 5, 2025, for updates and features planned for the year 2025, the October 2025 section was planned to feature Roguelike mode, Masteries, Club Events & Car Gallery revamp.[1]

In the May Edition of the 2025 Roadmap posted on Asphalt Legends' website, the October Update was revised to feature persisting Roguelike mode & Garage UI revamp, and newly announced Dynamic Rank Cars (although it was added in the previous August 2025 Update) & additional Multiplayer changes based on feedback.[2]

On October 10, 2025, IRyS, a VTuber associated with hololive English, a branch of hololive production, uploaded a trailer for Escalate, a song that is planned to be released on October 16, 2025.[3] In a post on X (formerly Twitter), IRyS mentioned Asphalt as part of the collaboration.[4]

Patch notes for the update were announced by the official creators on October 11, 2025, including GamingWithAwesome[5], Nox Fury[6], DBT's Vrooms[7], Tune, Race, Repeat![8], Marf[9] and LokeshG[10]. Patch notes were later published on the game's website on October 13.

Season preview for the Black Friday Season were announced by the official creators on November 8, 2025, including GamingWithAwesome[11], Nox Fury[12], DBT's Vrooms[13], Tune, Race, Repeat![14] and LokeshG[15]. The season preview was published on November 10. Patch notes were later published on the game's website on November 10.

Gameplay Changes[]

  • The following cars now support the EVO Tuning feature:
  • New features:
    • Ultimate Star-Up, allows a car to be upgraded to the next star without having to collect the necessary Blueprints Blueprints for that star upgrade's requirement. Only one card is available for each class.
      • If the player has leftover Blueprints Blueprints when an Ultimate Star-up upgrade is used, those Blueprints Blueprints will not be converted into Trade Coins Trade Coins or count to the next star-upgrade requirement.
    • Offerwall, allows the player to select an offer from a list of surveys and challenges and take part in order to receive in-game rewards.
    • Roguelike Mode was introduced for Spotlight events under the standard format.

Audio & Visual Changes[]

  • Flagship Cars were introduced, allowing the interior of the featured cars to be able to inspect. This feature is available for the following cars:
    • RAESR Aglaia (Scissor doors)
    • Koenigsegg One:1 (Dihedral syncro-helix doors)
    • Mosler Super GT (Butterfly doors)
    • Aside from the Flagship Cars, there are also buttons to showcase the Active Aero or Convertible Roof of various cars.
  • For decals, when selecting a decal with no availability, a text box of "STAY TUNED!/This item is currently not available", is displayed.
  • For non-Maxed Out EVO cars, a text box, "MAX OUT CAR TO ACCESS EVO.", was introduced.
  • An informative card at the left of the EVO Car Filter was introduced.
  • New camera moves were introduced at the EVO Tuning menu.
  • EVO Weight Archetypes are now shown in the Private Lobby races.
  • The Brabham BT62 was delisted for non-owners.
  • The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S' car icon was updated, featuring the new license plate.
  • New intro animations were introduced for various tracks in Greenland, Norway and Singapore tracks.
    • New post-race camera movements were introduced (from Greenland onwards).
  • In the hololive event stages, the race countdown sound featured voice lines from IRyS, Kureiji Ollie, Takanashi Kiara & Nerissa Ravencroft.

  • As the Brabham BT62 is scheduled to be removed from the events rotation, and is no longer included in rewards and offers, the car's Keys Key was given to players who collected at least Epic Blueprints 1 of it on November 17, 2025.[23]
  • On December 3, 2025, a redeem code, LOADING26, was released, rewarding Tokens 250 and Credits 250,000.

Bugs & Errors[]

Active[]

  • There are numerous bugs reported at the start of the Phantom Riders Season:[24]
    • For the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage, the EVO Tuning Air Speed modified by Special Packs isn't applied correctly.
    • The Flagship Cars, the RAESR Aglaia and Koenigsegg One:1, are missing the one-door-opening animations.
    • In World League, certain cars were wrongly regulated as stock rank.
    • In Season Series, quitting the races causes the game to crash.
    • In World Series, FREE TRY cars are regulated their penultimate star and stats but when racing with them, the cars act in their stock stats.
    • For the Nintendo Switch & Nintendo Switch 2 versions, Clash Coins Clash Coins bundles were offered despite being deprecated.
  • In the Black Friday II of the 2025 Black Friday Burst of Speed, one of the conditions requires the player to win the race 10 times. Despite being displayed as "Achievable", this condition cannot be done if the player doesn't own either the HTT Locus Pléthore LC750 or the Czinger 21C, both of which are Blueprint-unlockable cars.
  • One of the featured car's Blueprints in the Gobble or Not Card Pack is the Bentley Continental GT Speed instead of the Bentley Continental GT3, the car that is used in the Gobble Day Limited-time Event.
  • The active wing for the Bugatti La Voiture Noire is glitched.
  • In the Contest section of the Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series' Unleased event, one of the conditions requires the player to finish the race 5 times. Despite being displayed as "Achievable", this condition cannot be done if the player doesn't own the car.

Fixed[]

  • On October 20, 2025, 12:11 AM PDT, AWS announced that they are investigating an increased error rate and latency on multiple AWS services in the US-EAST-1 region, where the servers of Asphalt Legends are located and affected from the outage.[25]
    • All AWS services in the US-EAST-1 were restored on 3:53 PM PDT.[16]
  • On October 28, 2025, a hotfix was launched, except for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions,[26] fixing the following bugs:
    • Grand Prix bug, in which attempting to enter Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate Grand Prix qualifying round would cause the game to crash, leading the original event to be cancelled and postponed until November 3, 2025.
    • Most likely due to the introduction of the Roguelike Mode for the Tides of Madness event, Security vehicles were unable to be knocked down with 360s or Shockwaves in Career races.
    • Certain decals were missing.
    • After pressing the "Garage Level" button, the number indicating the garage level (from 1 to 20) cannot be seen due to it being obscured by the white background.
    • Minor EVO Tuning and Offerwall issues.
    • On October 29, a hotfix was released for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions, fixing a bug in which the Porsche ????? appeared in race events as an NPC opponent, despite not being intended to.[27]
  • In the early hours of the Summer Growth Round 2, the Play button was broken.[28] It could be only fixed by restarting the game.[29]
  • On November 4, 2025, players who tried to race against an opponent in Gauntlet would receive the "Sorry, this opponent has been banned temporarily." error.[30] It was fixed at the same day.
  • Several bugs reported during the Black Friday Season have been fixed.[31]
    • During the Automobili Pininfarina B95 Special Event, the reward at 150 conditions was 1x Event Pack, despite not being intended to. It was fixed by correcting the amount to 10x.
    • In the Black Friday Season Legend Pass Showcase TLE, one of the Club Reward condition requiring the player to beat a race time of 1:24, which was nearly impossible to perform with a max-out Lotus Emeya for most players. This was later changed into 1:34.
    • Several players didn't receive the Keys Key of the Brabham BT62, despite having at least Epic Blueprints 1 of it. This was later resolved on November 18, 2025.[32]

  • This is the fifth update to be released in October after the Around the World Update in 2022, Ferrari Season Update in 2020, King of the Fall Update in 2019, and the Community Update in 2018.
  • The unofficial name of this update is "Phantom Riders and 2025 Black Friday Update".
  • The Phantom Riders season is the first season to include two Spotlight events.
    • The collaboration between the game and the VTubing agency hololive marks the second time the two have partnered, the first being a Special Event held during the City of Lights Update in February 2023, in the Asphalt 9: Legends era. The first Special Event featured VTubers, including Sakura Miko & Himemori Luna.
      • In the About menu, as part of the collaboration, there were trademark notices:
        • Rosuuri,[33] an illustrator collaborated with hololive, was mentioned with the text "Art by Rosuuri".
        • COVER Corp. owner of the hololive production, was mentioned with the text "© Cover".
    • While Tides of Madness doesn't feature a collaboration, it was based on the eldritch horror story "The Call of Cthulhu", written by H. P. Lovecraft.
  • Ultimate Star-Up cards were initially featured in Asphalt 9: Legends China.
  • The RAESR Aglaia is the second RAESR car to debut as a 3D-render-only and CAD-based project, following the RAESR Tartarus, with which it also shares its wheels.
  • With the inclusion of the Ford Mustang RTR Spec-5 FD in S class, Ford became the fourth brand in Asphalt Legends to have cars in all classes, after Lamborghini, Aston Martin, and Nissan.
  • The Koenigsegg One:1 is the 7th car added to the game after being featured in 2024 Community Choice Car Poll, where it placed 2nd with 14,834 votes in the First Round's Class S category.[34]
    • Along with the Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate, they are two of the returning cars from Asphalt 8: Airborne.
  • It is the third post-Asphalt Legends Unite's launch update to not add cars that were previously included in Asphalt 9: Legends China, after the Carnival Rush Update, and the Korean Spring Update.
  • There were mispronunciations in the NEW SONGS! section of the patch notes:
    • Franky Nuts, the Dutch producer and DJ, had his alias written as "Frankie Nuts".
    • GIFT HORSE by IDLES, was written as "Big Horse".
    • Pythius, the Dutch producer and DJ, and REEBZ, English D&B Metal vocalist, were pronounced as "Phythius & Reebs".
  • Like the cars that were added in the Winterfest Update, the model name of the cars added in this update were not written in all caps.
  • In the patch notes, a free Japanese Nintendo eShop exclusive DLC for the Nintendo Switch 2 version that would improve the performance on the platform was supposed to be introduced. However, when the hotfix for the Nintendo Switch & Nintendo Switch 2 versions was announced, it was confirmed that the DLC was postponed to the first update in 2026.[27]
  • This is the only update to not add vehicles using the same 2 seater interior with 2 screens and a manual gear shift.
