The Porsche Carrera GT (also abbreviated as "CGT") is a limited production, mid-engined supercar by Porsche. It is the successor to both the Porsche 959 and Porsche 911 GT1 street version ("Straßenversion") and the predecessor to the Porsche 918 Spyder.
Overview
The development of the Carrera GT can be traced back to the 911 GT1 and LMP1-98 racing cars. Due in part to the FIA and ACO rule changes in 1998, both designs had ended. Porsche at the time had planned on a new Le Mans prototype for 1999.
The car was initially intended to use a turbocharged flat-6, but was later redesigned to use a new V10 engine, pushing the project back to planned completion in 2000. The V10 was a unit secretly built by Porsche for the Footwork Formula One team in 1992, but later shelved. The engine was resurrected for the Le Mans prototype and increased in size to 5.7 litres.
The project was canceled after two days of testing for the first car, in mid-1999, mostly due to Porsche's wish to build the Cayenne SUV with involvement from Volkswagen and Audi, thus requiring engineering expertise to be pulled from the motorsports division. It was also speculated that VW-Audi chairman Ferdinand Piëch wanted Audi's new Le Mans Prototype, the Audi R8 not to face competition from Porsche in 2004.
Porsche did keep part of the project alive by using the 5.5 L V10 from the prototype in a concept car shown at the 2000 Paris Motor Show, mainly in an attempt to draw attention to their display. Surprising interest in the vehicle and an influx of revenue provided from the Cayenne helped Porsche decide to produce the car, and development started on a road-legal version that would be produced in small numbers at Porsche's new manufacturing facility in Leipzig. Porsche started a production run of Carrera GTs in 2004, shipping the units with an MSRP of US$448,000. The first Carrera GT went on sale in the United States on January 31, 2004.
Originally a production run of 1,500 cars was planned. However, Porsche announced in August 2005 that it would not continue production of the Carrera GT through to 2006, citing discontinuation was due to changing airbag regulations in the United States. By the end of production on May 6, 2006, more than 1,270 GTs had been sold, with a total of 644 units sold in the United States and 31 units sold in Canada. In the United Kingdom, 49 units were sold.

Summary
The Porsche Carrera GT was added in the Fifth Anniversary Update as a mid Class S car with the following rank statistics:
- Starting rank: 1273
- The Carrera GT's top speed/nitro "pair" is the Class B Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Black Series, also ranked 1273.
- MAX rank: 1612 (+339)
- MAX+PRO rank: 1767 (+155)
- Tuning Kit bonus: +57
- Speed Multiplier: 95.71%
- This is shared with the McLaren 720S.
- This was removed in the Sixth Anniversary Update.
- This is shared with the McLaren 720S.
- Stock to MAX+PRO rank difference: 494
- Upgrade rank percentages: 25/30/10/35
- Nitro Efficiency: 5/8.5/11.5
Performance
With its performance being a combination of the Arash AF10 and Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS, the Porsche Carrera GT has an extreme focus on raw top speed, in contrast to the other Porsches in the game, which have low raw top speed ratings due to their heavy focus on nitro. Its acceleration is considerably improved over the AF10 and Camaro SS, along with its handling and drifting; it has a noticeably sharper drift radius than the Porsche 918 Spyder with Weissach Package.
It has a real total speed of 310.2 mph/499.4 km/h at MAX+PRO with Tuning Kit, the second highest of any Porsche in the game, just behind the Porsche 918's 312.7 mph/503.6 km/h. This is 0.42 mph/0.68 km/h higher than the Arash AF10's 309.7 mph/498.7 km/h but lower than the Zenvo TS1 GT's 312.7 mph/503.5 km/h and Camaro's 314.3 mph/506.1 km/h.
Unlike other Porsches in the game, the Carrera GT does not have a speed multiplier equal to or above 100.00% – instead, it is 95.71%, a variation of the 95.75% used by cars like the RUF CTR 3 and W Motors Fenyr SuperSport. This speed multiplier was removed as of the Sixth Anniversary Update.
Usage
Multiplayer
With the revised matchmaking system in the September 2018 Heatwave Season, the Carrera GT was not recommended for use in Multiplayer due to matchmaking favoring fast-accelerating cars with high total speed, which means the Carrera GT would and still will be placed at the mercy of the Lamborghini Centenario LP 770-4, Rezvani Beast Alpha, Apollo Intensa Emozione, 2018 McLaren X2, Aston Martin Vulcan, and even the Porsche 918 and Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV. While better than the Zenvo TS1 GT 10th Anniversary Edition (at least in terms of acceleration and handling), the Carrera GT's performance still makes it likely to be knocked down or simply overtaken by the aforementioned cars.
With the original matchmaking restored in Fall Flash Season 2, the Carrera GT can dominate over the Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition and 2016 Camaro SS. It is also capable of competition against the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage, Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition, and AM Vulcan. Care should be taken, however, as the Carrera GT faces the issue of average handling and drifting with a multiplayer upgrade tune installed. The Carrera GT should not be used above rank 1600, though, as it will be pitted against the Rezvani Beast α, McLaren X2, Apollo IE, and Lambo Centenario, all of which are much superior.
Price & Availability
The Porche Carrera GT was only obtainable by completing its Championship in its debut.
On some platforms, the Porsche Carrera GT could be purchased for 12,000 between January 31 to February 19 / April 1, 2019.
The Porsche Carrera GT was part of the 36th Multiplayer Season, Daybreak Season 1 as an Elite League Reward.
As of the 2019 Spring Update, upgrades cost 2,836,000 while Pro Kits require 944,800, 18 of each Class S Part, 32 Exceptional Engines, 36 Mid-Techs, and 24 Advanced Techs.
