Research & Development/Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition

The Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition's Research & Development event was released as the 32nd R&D event as part of the Fall Out Boy Update on February 12 2018 after the BMW M2 Special Edition's Fall Out Boy World Tour.

There are 4 labs spanning a total of 50 tests with a 10 day time limit once the event is started.

The labs will unlock in the following schedule:

• Lab 002: 1 day later or pay  400
• Lab 003: 3 days later or pay  800
• Lab 004: 6 days later or pay

Tips / Warnings

• There are 4 free upgrades given in the R&D on Tests .003., .007., .018. and .026.. These upgrades are extremely useful if the player has difficulty acquiring tokens for the token-only upgrades.
  • If the player finished in the top 2,000 of the February 14 Apex Wednesday Upgrades cup, the free Class A upgrade can be used on Top Speed Level 1.
  • Before attempting Test .003., upgrade Top Speed to Level 1 and use the free upgrade awarded upon completing Test .003. on Top Speed Level 2.
  • Top Speed should be upgraded to Level 3 before attempting Test .018. as this would allow the player to use the free upgrade awarded upon completion of that test on Top Speed Level 4.
  • As of the 2019 Spring Update, the Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition no longer has any token-only upgrades.
• The minimum tune required to complete the event is [0500 5050], which is incidentally an optimally effective multiplayer tuning. This requires  1,024,900 +  2,240, 6 each of Mid-Techs and Legendary Electric Engines and 4 Advanced Techs.
  • As an exception, there has been a single verifiable case of success at 0500 4050.
  • The 4 free upgrades from the event can also be used on Top Speed upgrades 2, 3, 4, and 5 to reduce the cost of MAX upgrades to only  74,950.
  • As of the 2019 Spring Update, this tune requires  420,750, 12 each of Early, Initial and Mid-Techs, 14 Legendary Electric Engines and 6 Advanced Techs.
