Speed Trials was a multiplayer race mode in Asphalt 8: Airborne. Added in the 2021 Lunar New Year Update, it combines the "randomize" option of Quick Solo Race with the "free try" rentals used in TLEs. Speed Trials last for one week and were available until May 2021.
Overview[]
The game gives a random vehicle and track for each race. Each player in a race will be given a vehicle that is within a performance range and will have a Nitro Starter, Tuning Kit, and Extra Tank active.
Double Credits will not increase the credits reward for a Speed Trials race and the multi credit value will be greyed out as a zero value. However, multi-credits from watching an ad will be applied.
Speed Trial races count towards the player's multiplayer races played/win statistics.
The current Speed Trials Season allows racing with random Class D cars from the rank 1228-1232. The cars used in this season are:
- BMW M3 Sedan (D1228)
- BMW M1 (D1228)
- Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG (D1229)
- Infiniti FX50 (D1229)
- Chevrolet Corvette C3 (D1229)
- Acura NSX 2005 (D1230)
- Mazda Furai (D1230)
- Honda S2000 (D1230)
- Honda Civic Type-R (D1230)
- Nissan Leaf Nismo RC (D1232)
Note: The Nissan Leaf Nismo RC was added to the available cars 6 weeks after the first release of Speed Trials.
Note: Two weeks after the inclusion of the Nissan Leaf Nismo RC into Speed Trials, the boosters were not included as the default for racing with this car. This is the only vehicle where boosters are not automatically activated. In addition, any user activated boosters will not be added to this vehicle during Speed Trial races. After 1 week, the default boosters were reinstated on the the Nissan Leaf RC for racing in Speed Trials. No announcement was made by Gameloft as to the removal or reinstatement, and it is unclear if it was a glitch or a deliberate decision.
