Enduro Double DownCar Hunt

The Porsche 918 Spyder with Weissach Package is the ninth Enduro Double Down-unlockable car and was released as part of the Porsche Update in Asphalt 8: Airborne. Players are given 7 days to start the event and 9 days to complete it. It was launched on July 20, 2017 following the Porsche 718 Boxster S's Championship event as the fifth and final event of the Porsche Motor Series.

It was revived on November 13, 2018, in the Halloween Update.

There are 9 Tiers and 50 Challenges.

Enduro Cars[]

† Denotes a car that becomes unusable in the last three Tiers of the EDD.
※ Denotes a car that appears later on in the EDD (after the difficulty changes).

Strategy Notes / Tips[]

  • If the player avoids the challenges for a particular car early on in the EDD, the game may end up giving them a choice with both races using the same car later on. If the player has a sufficiently long streak of completed races, the reroll for a choice will still show the same options.
  • A general strategy like with other Enduro Double Down events is to try to go very far on the first invitation and make sure to save the most EP possible in that first invitation. Later invitations must have the same amount of EP earned each time, but lower than the EP earned in the first invitation.
    • A good strategy with a maxed out 918 (5555 0000, S1677/1798; or 5555 0000 0808, S1684/1798) is to double from Challenge 4 (Ace Race 1) onwards and keep doubling until after clearing Challenge 36 (Ace Race 7), after which the banked EP must be saved. Enduro Points 34,330 is earned for the first ticket, and for later tickets, it is highly recommended to save points after Challenge 24 (Ace Race 5) instead, earning Enduro Points 12,070 each time.
    • The final Ace Race is clearable with an upgrade configuration of 5405 4040 0808.
  • As was the case with the previous EDD boss car, the Porsche 918 Spyder with Weissach Package is an Elite Car, so it is highly recommended to tune up the car after a few races to avoid running the risk of doing a race in a car with a red condition bar.
    • The Porsche 918 Spyder with Weissach Package EDD lasts only 9 days, meaning that unlike the Corvette Grand Sport's EDD, the player has more time to get the car, especially with the 918 being an Elite Car, and tune-ups for it last 2 hours.
  • In the same fashion as the Lamborghini Aventador SV's EDD, which featured the Lamborghini Huracán and Lamborghini Egoista (both R&D-unlockable cars), due to this event featuring all Porsche cars added in the Porsche Update, if the player upgraded the other Porsche cars during their respective events (Cayman GT4 Championship, 959 Championship, 911 GT3 RS R&D, and 718 Boxster S Championship), the player should have a huge advantage in this EDD.
    • Saving Exceptional Engines from the Porsche 911 GT3 RS's R&D event is recommended for this event, since the Porsche 918 Spyder with Weissach Package uses Exceptional Engines for its Pro Kits (all 5 levels, 28 total).
    • Multiplayer-safe upgrade configurations for the 959 (e.g. 0405 0503 = 210 mph/339 km/h @ D990) can be used to win the challenges for that car, although boosters are again recommended, especially when facing challenges with a recommended rank exceeding 1220.
  • Be wary of races that either have a race time to beat or are of the following race types: Gate Drift and Flawless. These races are usually the most difficult, especially the latter combined with a target race time, so unless the player knows (s)he can beat those challenges, it is best to steer clear of those challenges as much as possible.
    • Be very careful of Gate Drift races in the 959, 718 Boxster S, and Cayman GT4, as those cars have low top speed stats, meaning that to finish first, the player cannot be drifting all the way in any Gate Drift race with these cars. Instead, the player must fully activate the nitro between sets of gates.
    • The Porsche 918 Spyder with Weissach Package had the issue of subpar handling/drifting, meaning the player would have to turn or drift earlier than normal when using this car. Even with the updated handling from the Motorcycles Update onwards, it is still highly recommended to avoid any and all Flawless races involving this car, as failing them will not only result in a loss of EP, but also a reduction in the vehicle condition bar.
  • The cars the player has to be careful of in this EDD are the Audi RS 3 Sportback and Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR-X. Both cars have poor nitro efficiency and acceleration, with nitro efficiency rated at 9/14/19 and 10/15/20, respectively. The Viper also has an issue of a wide drifting radius (though not too wide).
    • Since the Viper SRT10 ACR-X already appeared in the BXR Bailey Blade GT1's EDD event, the player will experience different challenges in the Viper in the 918 EDD compared to the Bailey EDD.
  • Always open Porsche BP boxes (at Enduro Points 10,000 and Enduro Points 42,500) right away as they may grant blueprints that can push the player much closer to the 918 Weissach without getting Enduro Points 75,000 (few extra BP might be required, e.g. 10 BP's from the boxes + Enduro Points 50,000 collected: 2 more BP's elsewhere)
  • As the revived EDD takes place after the Porsche Update, players who do not own the Scion FR-S are highly advised to NOT upgrade it and avoid its challenges as much as possible because there is no possible way for the player to obtain the Scion FR-S at all. This means any credits and pro kits spent on the FR-S will be nothing more than a waste after the EDD ends.

Trivia[]

  • This Enduro Double Down is notable for several firsts:
    • The first to feature Championship-unlockable cars as Enduro Cars.
      • It is also the second EDD event to feature R&D-unlockable cars as Enduro Cars.
    • The first not to have any car and alternate rewards.
      • This does not apply to the relaunched event.
    • The first to automatically start using 'high end' car challenges once the player reaches a certain Tier, regardless if they have saved up their points or not.
      • The 'low end' car challenges are discontinued at the same point.
    • The first that forces the player to use a stock boss car for the first Ace Race.
    • The first that doesn't feature additional cars from the same class as the boss car.
    • It is the first (second if counting the 1967 Chevrolet Impala's canceled EDD, which included the 9FF GT9 VMAX that was later reused in the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport's EDD) to reuse a past Enduro car; in this case, the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR-X, which was first used in the BXR Bailey Blade GT1's EDD.
  • This EDD is also notable for being the last EDD with an Elite Car as the main car, as the Motorcycles Update ended the trend of new Elite Cars being added with every update.
  • It is also the second EDD event that features cars from every single car class, after the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport's EDD event (third if counting the 1967 Chevrolet Impala's canceled EDD).
  • The Porsche 918 Spyder with Weissach Package EDD event is the least diverse in terms of the update versions its Enduro Cars were added in; the 5 Porsche cars were added in the Porsche Update (v3.1.0), while the other 4 cars (FR-S, RS 3, Survolt, and Viper SRT10 ACR-X) are all original cars (v1.0.0).
    • This makes it the EDD whose Enduro Cars debuted in only two update versions. The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition's EDD would also follow suit, albeit with all of the Enduro Cars (aside from the SLR) being original cars.
  • For some reason, the Enduro Cars from the Sbarro Sparta EDD (including the Sparta) are reused as AI racers in this EDD.
  • In the first few hours of the EDD, the Elite Tuning feature was removed from the car. It was later replaced back.
  • The EDD Professional Box for the 918 Spyder Weissach Package claims to grant at least 1 Hybrid Engine but gives out Exceptional Engines. This is a leftover from when the 918 was presumably planned to used Hybrid Engines in its Pro Kits.
