Cross the finish line before the timer runs out!
Game description, Asphalt 7: Heat.
Havana 1

Time Attack, also known as Auto-start and Old-School Arcade, is a commonly recurring race mode in the Asphalt series, dating as far back as 2010's Asphalt 6: Adrenaline. It has branched off into new modes in later renditions of the series, becoming Auto-start in Asphalt 8: Airborne.

Overview[]

Time Attack introduction screen as of Munich Update

In Time Attack, the player must reach the finish line before the timer runs out. In Asphalt 7: Heat, the player receives bonus stars if they complete the race with a certain amount of seconds remaining.

In Asphalt 8: Airborne, Time Attack returns as part of the Championships introduced in the Championship Update, known as Auto-start. In this mode, the player already starts driving on a certain portion of the track; countdowns have been eliminated altogether. The goal of Time Attack is to reach the end of the designated track before the timer runs out. Should the player pass or fail the Time Attack race and retry it, they can face off against their own ghost, but beating the ghost is not required.

With the Motorcycles Update, this mode also appears in Moto Blitz and in Research & Development events for motorcycles, replacing Knockdown mode. As of McLaren 650S GT3's R&D, this mode also appears for car R&Ds, although this practice appears to have been stopped as of the Rimac Concept S's event.

Each track in the game has at least 6 Sprint variants, 3 forwards and 3 reverse. Area 51 and Transylvania are the only tracks that currently either do not have Sprint variations or have currently unknown Sprint variations yet to be discovered. Munich Subway Time Attacks do not use Sprint tracks, instead opting for full-lap time attacks.

In Asphalt 9: Legends, the player must get to the finish line within the time limit (usually 30s or under). Time can be gained in certain parts of the track, and every time the player goes through a checkpoint, they will gain around 10s or above. Reaching the finish line before the time runs out will grant the player 1 Career flag.
