Asphalt 8: Airborne[]

Traffic appears in all maps, with the exception of French Guiana and Sector 8. They also usually don't appear in Elimination, Infected, Gate Drift, Time Attack, and Multiplayer events. Traffic vehicles will move along a set path and if they stray from the course or are knocked down, they will eventually re-spawn at their starting point. If a traffic vehicle is collided into with enough force, the player's vehicle is wrecked. Destroying Traffic completely is called Traffic Down (usually occurs when a player hits Traffic from behind), while simply brushing against Traffic is called Traffic Control. Driving extremely closely to Traffic without brushing against or hitting it while at high speeds is considered a Near Miss. Players may knock down traffic during a wreck, but this does not count as a Traffic Down. However, if the car wreck touches a Traffic vehicle without damaging it, the player will perform a Traffic Control.

Nevada[]

Traffic vehicles are either small four-door cars, pickup trucks, or large delivery trucks, with or without the box. Traffic in the tunnels are harder to avoid, and might not be seen until it's too late.

Tokyo[]

Traffic vehicles appear as small four-door cars, hatchbacks, minivans, pickups and large buses in the city area, and delivery trucks in the harbor. There is also a stationary bus that can be jumped over via a ramp (not applicable in Tokyo Reverse) and a police roadblock (only on Tokyo Reverse). Some of the buses are always present even with traffic disabled except in Multiplayer races.

Iceland / Venice[]

Traffic vehicles appear as small cars as well as the occasional delivery truck, bus, and pickup truck. Venice also features Limousines. Between the Championship Update and the Fifth Anniversary Update, traffic was removed from Iceland.

The Great Wall / Barcelona / Dubai[]

Traffic vehicles appear as small cars and the occasional bus. Barcelona also includes its own unique taxi and stretch limousines.

London[]

London has typical cars and limousines as well as special double-decker buses and London Cabbies. Between the Championship Update and the Fifth Anniversary Update, a glitch had removed all traffic from London.

Alps[]

The Alps have typical cars, pickup trucks, and buses. Beware of avalanches, as they are hard to see through and raise the risk of hitting Traffic.

Azure Coast[]

The Azure Coast has regular cars and buses. One part of the track has racers pass through a trio of stationary buses, similar to that of Tokyo. In the Exclusive Metal Events, these buses are removed altogether.

San Diego Harbor[]

Traffic consists of armored vehicles and tanks, adding to the military atmosphere. Despite their appearance, these vehicles are just as easy to knockdown.

Tenerife[]

Traffic includes cars, pickup trucks, buses, and delivery trucks.

Area 51[]

Traffic includes armored vehicles and tanks in the actual research base. Outside of that, normal traffic cars appear.

Rio de Janeiro[]

During multi-lap races, trams can appear on tram tracks and act as traffic vehicles. At the festival part of the track, there are interactive stationary buses (only in Ipanema Showdown and Rapido Park), even in Multiplayer races.

Patagonia[]

Traffic includes cars, buses, and delivery trucks.

Munich Subway[]

The only unique "traffic" is the subway trains that can give Near Misses; no unique road traffic appears in Munich Subway.

Orbital Loop[]

Asphalt Xtreme[]

Traffic only appears in the Versus race mode and only consists of monster trucks and semi-trucks.

Asphalt Overdrive[]

In addition to static debris that blocks off a lane, traffic serves as obstacles the player should avoid and can appear both as moving and stationary objects.

  • Normal traffic: Normal vehicles that can have a takedown or near-miss performed with it. When hit from the rear, the traffic car slows down the player's vehicle, ends a combo, and stops nitro usage. Invincible Invincible is not turned on upon hitting these vehicles.
  • Heavy vehicles: Slow-moving busses or cargo trucks that are immune to takedowns but can give a near-miss. Attempting a takedown will only result in the player's vehicle moving back into the previous lane and colliding from the rear causes a wreck. Invincible Invincible is turned on upon impact with these vehicles.
    • Scripted variants of cargo trucks can appear where the cargo is dropped onto the road and the truck crashes. This version will have 2 lanes blocked off twice.
    • Police trucks can appear during certain missions as a scripted event and are treated as a heavy vehicle.
  • Police cars and taxis: Normal vehicles that drive erratically and frequently change lanes.
  • Police barricades: Scripted vehicles that block a lane and attempt to cause a wreck.
  • Police pursuit & boss cars: These appear during a Getaway or boss mission. If they catch up to the player, the race is failed.

Asphalt Nitro[]

Traffic works exactly the same as in Asphalt 8: Airborne.

Asphalt 9: Legends[]

Traffic appears in almost all maps and all game modes with the exception of some TLEs. Unlike Asphalt 8, traffic vehicles are parked and do not drive on the roads. Hitting traffic vehicles is named Traffic Down and will award the player a small nitro refill. Barely passing traffic vehicles is named Near Miss which will also award the player with a small nitro refill.

San Francisco[]

San Francisco's traffic consists of semi-trucks, pickup trucks, transit buses, and 4 door sedans. Two cable cars and a taxi also only appear on this map.

Scotland[]

Scotland has no traffic.

Himalayas[]

Himalayas's traffic consists of SUVs, commercial vans, pickup trucks, European semi-trucks, and sedans.

The Caribbean[]

Trivia[]

Asphalt 8: Airborne[]

  • At Tokyo, right after the starting line, there is a red bus which appears in all modes except Multiplayer. In the reverse version of the track, there is a small ramp with three police cars lined up (giving players a chance of near misses or traffic knockdowns) that also appears in Multiplayer races.
  • Near the end of the second lap in the Alps, a group of traffic can be seen being caught in the path of an oncoming avalanche. Despite traffic being disabled for Multiplayer, this is still seen and players can drive through the traffic without being wrecked.
  • Rarely, traffic may spawn right in front of the player in Alps, instantly causing a wreck.

Asphalt Nitro[]

  • Before the Italy update, there was a car file named "car_traffic_car" along with the rest of the game's cars.

Asphalt 9: Legends[]

  • In Rome and Cairo, the mopeds are not classified as traffic vehicles but as city objects.
  • In early versions of the game, American semi-trucks were used in place of European semi-trucks for Himalayas and Rome.
