There are many different cars in Asphalt 8 that are good MP cars. This blog indicates the list of ideal MP cars in their respective brackets, and how they should be tuned/boosted. Feel free to provide your suggestion and point out any mistake below!

Note: I do deliberately avoid class kings and elite cars unless they do exceptionally well in MP, as they are usually better when used as TLE cars.

The Acronyms used below

Regular car tuning (Upgrade: Nitro-oriented upgrades, Pro Kits: Tires/Drivetrain only) = CT

Nitro car tuning (Upgrade: Top Speed-oriented upgrades, Pro Kits: Suspension/Exhaust only) = NCT

May require extra handling/acceleration Upgrade = xHU/xAU

Acceleration-oriented Vehicle = AV

Top-speed-oriented Vehicle = TSV

Balanced Performance Vehicle = BPV

Competitiveness: Determined by possibility of winning.

  • Low: Only dominant against cars that are not on the chart. Challenging against cars with "Medium" rating.
  • Medium: Competitive against every cars; may struggle against ones with "High" and "Dominating" rating.
  • High: Dominant against most cars except for certain "overpowered" cars.
  • Dominating: Cars whose competitiveness are way beyond their rank. It's near impossible to win against this type of cars with the car of lower rating.

Difficulty: Determined by handling, nitro efficiency, acceleration (margin for error), and the tendency of skidding.

  • Easy: Excellent handling, average perfect nitro efficiency: 10 or below, decent acceleration.
  • Medium: Either has mediocre handling or perfect nitro efficiency of 11~13.
  • Hard: Poor handling, (usually) poor nitro efficiency, (sometimes) poor acceleration.

Note*: Being in such a low rank, both Dart and R8 e-tron could be highly competitive when pitted against other unexperienced players who cannot afford booster; However, due to the game's queue mechanics, the possibility of being placed among other MP-tuned cars is also high when there's few players in similar rank. Note**: Owing to the SLK 55 SE's abysmal acceleration, the car is only useful on long, straight tracks like Tokyo (and maybe London). Otherwise, it's a bad choice.

Experiment Tips

The cars listed above have all been tested and proved to be acceptable MP cars (though some work significantly better than the others). However, I personally suggest everyone to try out tuning cars that aren't listed above and see whether they do well in MP. Here are some tips to help you select the right car and predict the final result.

1. Usually (which means not always), a good MP car has a relatively low starting rank compared to its MAX/PRO rank. This kind of car, more often than not, also has low stock top speed; Nonetheless, the top speed goes up quite a lot as you upgrade it (sometimes even over 10km/h or 6mph per upgrade). In multiplayer, the total top speed of a car usually signifies how well it performs.

2. If a car has considerably high nitro power (>70km/h or 42mph), then you may want to consider tuning it in NCT instead of CT.

3. If a car's MAX/PRO rank is much higher than 1650, then you need to be careful when PROing the car. Install one upgrade at a time, and stop upgrading when the rank is near 1600~1650 unless you exactly know its final result.

4. Never underestimate the power of A8 Forum! You can predict an MP-tuned car's top speed by checking its performance stats page. Here's how it works:

1. If your car can be tuned in complete MP format (0505/5050 for CT and 0505/0505 for NCT) without exceeding the 1590 rank border, then    the total speed of your car would be MAX Top Speed +  MAX Nitro + PRO Top Speed for CT and MAX Top Speed + Max Nitro + PRO Nitro for NCT.

2. If your car rank will exceed 1650 with such tuning scheme, you'll need to avoid completing the PRO part of the upgrade. The total speed of these cars would be 'around' MAX Top Speed + MAX Nitro + X(PRO Top speed/10) for CT and MAX Top Speed + MAX Nitro + X(PRO Nitro/10) for NCT. X = the number of pro kits installed.

Edit:

#10 1.Some additions, and removed cars nobody uses 2.Changed the acronym from TSC,BPC,AC to TSV,BPV,AV for the motorbikes
