The Vanda Electrics Dendrobium (also known as Vanda Dendrobium or VE Dendrobium) is an electric concept hypercar made by Vanda Electrics, a Singapore-based company specializing in battery technology and electric mobility.
Description
Making its debut at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show, the Dendrobium was designed by the Williams F1 team, who were tasked with engineering and building the show car on behalf of Vanda Electrics.
According to carmagazine.com, the Dendrobium is intended as a halo project to build interest and awareness in the brand. A second brand may follow should the Dendrobium be successful.
The Dendrobium is named after an orchid species in Singapore. Much of the concept’s design is inspired by nature, with honeycomb patterns a recurring theme. The rear-hinged roof and doors, in particular, are intended to echo the petals of an orchid. The roof and doors can be opened independently of each other via the key fob. The car is engineered such that the rearward hinges are set up to withstand the slings and arrows of aerodynamic forces at high speeds.
The chassis is a carbon monocoque, with the battery behind the seats on the other side of a protective bulkhead; occupant protection and battery protection is part and parcel of the challenge of designing BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles).
The car accelerates 0-62mph in as little as 2.6sec and has a top speed of around 200mph (320 km/h). The total power output is expected at 1000 bhp, with the expected kerb weight be 1750 kg.
Asphalt 8: Airborne
Summary
The Vanda Electrics Dendrobium is a mid Class S car added in the Fall Out Boy Update with the following statistics:
- Starting rank: 1374
- MAX rank: 1610 (+236)
- MAX+PRO rank: 1751 (+141)
- Tuning Kit bonus: +48
- Stock to MAX+PRO rank difference: 377
- Upgrade rank percentages: 25/25/25/25
- Speed Multiplier: 95.89%
- Nitro Efficiency: 7/10/12.5
Performance
The Vanda Dendrobium has amazing acceleration and smooth handling, as well as a unique and good nitro efficiency. However, it has a low top speed and is highly reliant on its powerful nitro boost to keep up with other vehicles — taking its speed modification into account, at MAX+PRO with a tuning kit applied, the Dendrobium is only 0.06 mph/0.1 km/h faster than the nanoFlowcell QUANT FE with the default 4444 Elite tuning; even with level 3 nitro active, the Dendrobium, at 294.6 mph/474.4 km/h real speed, is still 1.7 mph (3 km/h) slower than the Hennessey Venom GT and Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe Touring Car 2014, the latter of which acts as an upgrade to the Dendrobium.
Official review
This is the official review of the Vanda Electrics Dendrobium on the Asphalt YouTube channel, made by ASL Tae Hwan Kim and published on March 16, 2018:
Time to reach end of Tokyo straight: 7.359s
Perfect nitro duration: 10.461s
Triple nitro duration: 7.887s
French Guiana lap time: 57.468s
Final verdict: "With its great acceleration and nice top speed, the Vanda can act pretty well in Multiplayer if tuned correctly. MAX+PRO stats are also great overall, so it also can be a great option for TLEs. Although this car is far from being a king of S Class, it's a really good choice if you're looking for a great mid-tier S Class car."
Usage
Multiplayer
The Vanda Dendrobium has limited use in multiplayer. However, with its low starting rank and low upgrade rank weightings on top speed and nitro, the Vanda Electrics Dendrobium can be quite competitive at around 1500-1580 rank bracket.
Below are some suitable Multiplayer tunings for the Vanda Electrics Dendrobium.
- MAX 0505 PRO 5050, rank 1563.
- This is the minimum tuning to win the Championship. Without Tuning Kit, this gives a total top speed of 464 kph / 288 mph, or 445.6 kph / 276.8 mph with Speed Modification.
- MAX 0505 PRO 5052, rank 1573.
- This is the second minimum tuning to win the Championship, should the player not have enough driving skill. This without Tuning Kit provides a slightly higher total top speed than the previous tuning, capable of reaching 466 kph / 289 mph, or 446 kph / 277 mph with Speed Modification.
The Vanda Electrics Dendrobium mainly rivals Holden Coupe 60 and McLaren MP4/8 from class B at these ranks. While the Dendrobium has better nitro duration than those cars, its handling, while not the worse, is slightly stiff. It also suffers from noticeably wide drifting radius and mediocre acceleration since the aforementioned tunings prioritize top speed and nitro, making the Vanda Electrics Dendrobium almost useless in narrow and twisty tracks like Dubai, although this falls to the hands of the driver. Tracks that have long straights and not too complex corners like Tokyo or Patagonia (except Crystal Lake or Avalanche Alley) are preferred, putting the Dendrobium at an advantage with its powerful and long lasting nitro boost. This also means that Extra Tank isn't too necessary.
When used in Pro League, a Dendrobium with a rank of 1563 is guaranteed to lose against the Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition, Porsche Carrera GT, Apollo Intensa Emozione and Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Special Edition. The Rezvani Beast Alpha can be beaten if its rank is below the Dendrobium's 1563; otherwise, it's superior. Competition is also to be expected from the 2018 McLaren X2, McLaren Mercedes MP4-25, SIN R1 and Holden Coupe 60, although these cars can be beaten depending on the driver's skill. Less dangerous are the BMW M2 Special Edition, Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS, Mazda RX-8 Special Edition, Renault Alpine Celebration, McLaren MP4/8, and even the Aston Martin Vulcan which can be beaten at those ranks.
Players should be careful when tuning the Vanda Electrics Dendrobium higher than 1580 as they are bound to face multiplayer favorites like BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage, McLaren Mercedes MP4-25, Apollo Intensa Emozione, or Aston Martin Vulcan which will then be superior.
Events
While the Vanda Dendrobium may not be the best vehicle in TLEs involving S Class, it is otherwise effective in electric vehicle-only events, only outclassed by the Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition and Rimac Concept S.

The Vanda Dendrobium has another good use, which is for credits farming at MAX+PRO. Its Mastery Challenge 15 is an Unplugged race set on The London Eye which has a payout of 6,135; a single race can be completed in about 50 seconds.
Price
The Vanda Dendrobium can only be unlocked via its Championship. Between November 26-27, 2018, it was made available for purchase at 11,999. And between April 19-23, 2019, it was made available for purchase at 9,500. It is part of the 41st Multiplayer Season, Fall Flash Season 3, as an Elite League reward. Players who already own the Dendrobium would win a Free S Class Upgrade instead.
As of the 2019 Spring Update, upgrades cost 2,026,000 while Pro Kits require 674,400, 18 of each Class S Part, 32 Electric Engines, 36 Mid-Techs, and 24 Advanced Techs.

- : 2,483

Performance
The Vanda has good nitro and acceleration, but has a lower top speed than most other S-Class cars. Its handling is average, and it has an average drift radius as well. While the Vanda has no particular weaknesses except for its top speed, it does not excel in anything except for its recovery speed out of corners, making it a mid-tier S-Class car just like its Asphalt 8 iteration.
