It is not yet clear if the upgrades depend on your personal progress (wether its useful to you or not) or if it is complete random. Also there seems some glitches when you leave the World Series after 5 wins and re-enter, you can get an additional reward after 7 races.

The multiplayer World Series competition is available to players of Asphalt 8: Airborne. World Series races can be played without limit with any car the player choses. The goal is to achieve Win Streaks, which will be rewarded with credits or upgrades. Whenever the player loses, achieves 9 wins in a row or exists the multiplayer mode, his streak ends. Winning means to achieve a place on the podium – place first, second or third.

Your opponents will be selected depending on your car's upgrade level, so if you choose to race with a Class A car, you will not race players with a Class D car. However you might face opponents with a low ranking Class S car, or with a high ranking Class B car.

Rating

After the race, you will be presented with the results. The second column is the rating, which persists between multiplayer races and is increased or decreased depending on your result, followed by an indicator if it was increased or decreased, and by how much. Players who get disconnected or leave lose 10 points.

It seems everyone starts with a rating of 1000 at the first multiplayer race.

The distribution of the rating points after a race is unclear. It can happen that someone with a high rating such as 1300 positions fourth, and loses 6 points, while someone with a medium-high rating such as 1100 positions third and wins 3 points, and someone with a rating of 980 positions sixth and still gains one point.

Also it seems the rating has no influence on or relation with any other game element. Potentially the starting position depends on your rating.

Rewards

Rewards are attributed after a consecutive serie of wins*, additionally to the credits you earn for your position in the race (first place between Credits 700 and Credits 1,000 Credits). The reward is independent of your multiplayer experience level or your stars level.

Number of wins* 3 5 7 9
Reward Credits 1,250 Credits 2,500 Class D Upgrade (Acc. / Nitro / Handl.) Class C Upgrade (Acc.)

It is not yet clear if the upgrades depend on your personal progress (wether its useful to you or not) or if it is complete random. Also there seems change when you leave the World Series after 5 wins and re-enter, you get Credits 5,000 credits rather than an upgrade after 7 races.

World Series vs Farming

If you have unlocked Seson 9, it is more efficient to buy a double credits boost, farm a track of season 9 and to buy the upgrade than to get an upgrade via multiplayer. The most expensive Class C Acceleration Upgrade is currently Felino cB7 level 4 to 5, and costs Credits 81,250 credits, which can be farmed in eight to nine Season 9 races, and will take less time. If you are looking for fun races rather than advance your level, multiplayer is your thing.
