The Zeus Twelve Sigma's Research & Development event was launched on March 2, 2019 as part of the Fast Lane Update after the BMW i8 Coupe's R&D. There are 4 labs spanning a total of 50 tests that must be completed within 10 days once the challenge is started. The R&D was revived on July 11, 2020.

The labs will unlock in the following schedule:

• Lab 002: 2 days later or pay  700
• Lab 003: 4 days later or pay  800
• Lab 004: 7 days later or pay  600

Tips / Warnings

5.1.0

• To complete the event without auto testing, the player must have the car upgraded to MAX+PRO. This requires  4,126,000 and  3,720,000.

4.1.0

• The minimum tune required to complete the event is [5525 5051]. This requires  2,175,000 +  3,750 and 50 Legendary Electric Engines.
  • The event only gives up to 31 Legendary Electric Engines, which requires 19 more to be acquired by other means.
  • Players who still have boxes from the Audi R8 e-tron Special Edition's R&D and Lightning LS-218's EDD can open those as R8 e-tron SE, LS-218 and Z 12S use Legendary Electric Engines.
  • Due to a bug in the Fast Lane Update which prevented some players from opening the LS-218 EDD boxes, players who faced this bug should refer to the statistics table to open boxes that have a higher chance of granting Legendary Electric Engines while waiting for the bug to be fixed.

• As there are no free upgrades in this event, the Extra Horses, Glimpse into the Future, New Wave, Retro and Off the Charts collections should be completed to upgrade the Z 12S. A total of 22 Class S free upgrades can be obtained from the 5 collections for the Z 12S' 4 TOUs.
  • Glimpse into the Future is the cheapest to complete (even with the McLaren P1™'s increased price) and gives 4 upgrades to cover the Z 12S' Level 5 upgrades.
    • Buying the P1™ costs  2,100 but completing the collection saves  2,900.
    • If the player has not bought the Ferrari LaFerrari before updating to the Fast Lane Update, the player would have had to pay  2,400, which would only save  500.
    • The other collections require either Blueprints, , or significantly higher upgrade costs.
• As the 2019 Spring Update removed the token-only upgrades for this car, it is no longer necessary to look for free upgrades in the collections.
